The Beauty of Still

Rated: E · Poetry · Writing · #2363488

Standing still while the world around you moves on

Today I stood still
I saw people
A unique looking jury
Always in a hurry
With nowhere to be

So today
I made time
Time to just be

I got to see the world
The one that surrounds me
I took a moment to dance in the breeze
And sway with the trees
I even met a few bees

You can learn so much
From trees, bees, and the breeze
They all stand still
Until

Until you sit up on a hill
At first it'll test your will
It'll reveal the potential you have yet to fill
And that'll be quite the thrill
I have to admit
Once you commit
You can not quit
And it will show you your best

Now that it is expressed
You look towards the west
And realize that's all you can rest
As you get up a little distressed
Your time now seems compressed
Before you continue on your quest

You notice others still on theirs
And as you take a deep breath of air
It soon starts to sink in
Some people get time to think
And some think time is extinct
But I thought a wink
And I still think that stinks

But alas the time has come
To go back to where we are from
I wonder if there is still
But we will never know until

Until you notice what grounds you
All the lives that surround you
You never realize how fast time goes
Until you stop and are still
And watch the flowers grow
Even the ones on a windowsill
