We had to use 8 words |
| Oh, these words. There’s revolution in these words, the way they carry weight and history, grief and tragedy, strength and triumph; in ancestor, we see lineage, warriors and kings, chiefs and lords, the truth of our existence in royalty and fight (even when they practice the erasure of it); in uprising, we are the black fist of justice, smashing borders and limitations, overcoming scar and bruise, injury and impairment, exceeding their expectations of us; in fracture, we break free of oppression, shattering chains, rejecting false ceasefires, and splintering hate so that tomorrow, we can rise. Oh yes, these words. There’s a revolution in these words, and this verse is an act of insurgence. We had to use the following words: ceasefire, erasure, ancestor, tomorrow, scar, uprising, border, and fracture. |
