Libby has a Karen for a neighbor.

Karen is at it Again
Libby was trimming the edges of her lawn, when she heard the voice of her neighbor, Karleen, who was a ‘Karen’ in the modern sense of the word.

“I’m calling the police!” Libby looked up to see her pointing her cellphone at her and calling 911.

“What is it now?”

“You’re spraying cut grass all over the place! It will choke my hedge and be a slip and fall hazard on the sidewalk!"

Libby stared. She stopped the trimmer abruptly.

“I was planning to rake it all up when I was finished, including under your hedge.”

“Yeah, sure! Why would you do that?”

“Because I’m not a bad person!”

Karleen opened her mouth, then closed it.

“I’ll be checking to see that you do!”

“I’m sure you will and I appreciate you.”

Karleen blinked in surprise and left. Libby finished then proceeded to rake the sidewalk and under her neighbor’s hedge thoroughly. She cleaned off her equipment into a leaf bag and put them away in her shed.

Going in her back door, Libby slipped off her shoes and put on slippers. She went into her kitchen and poured a tall glass of limeade with a little something extra. Adding ice pieces, she carried it onto her enclosed front porch. She sank into a wicker rocker.

She was startled out of a doze by a smart rap on her porch door.

“It’s Karleen!” she whispered. She got up slowly and unlocked the door.

“I wanted to let you know, I’m selling. It’s becoming too hard to upkeep.”

Libby was surprised. She was sure that she and her husband would have sold up before Karleen!

“Well, I hope your new place is better.”

Karleen nodded and left.
Libby did a dance of joy in her head.
