trying to rebuild a realtionship
For your birthday I send you thanks
For all the things you used to say
Though never would I listen.
Living with my eyes closed
Going day to day I was trying to believe
Everything would be fine.
You set limits for me
That would give me the freedom
To make my own decisions
Even if you knew all along
I might end up hurt.
You loved me enough to let me hate you
When I swore you were my worst enemy.
But in the long run you were the one
Who was truly there.
You let me fall knowing I'd find a way
To find the strength to finally stand on my own,
You've done so much but I could only see
What you didn't do.
I realize I have you to thank.
If things were different I might not be
The person I am today.
You've helped me to learn that the world
Isn't always good but you have to make
The world work for you.
Now I'm learning to do exactly that.
These are the things I suppose moms are here to do.
So I say once again...... Thank you.
