| Regard the once-majestic rose Her vibrant red is brown Her crown of petals dry and drop Her royal head bows down A withered weed, an ugly sprout Such is this queen deposed Nobody now remembers then This creature, once a rose Prized for beauty, prized for love She once kept head held high A monarch who is now brought low She stands, so brittle and dry Oh, poor, poor queen who stands alone We see once-royal grace The flower once a red, red rose Now fallen, in disgrace |
