The more than temporary distraction

At home with me
And my Cable TV
Gotta ask why?
I say why fight
This temporary distraction
Makes it alright
So I set off the lights
Glowing there like a star
Four days later
My house is still night
And the glowing box shines
Off the drool on the couch
While my life sits on the shelf
