I just need a sign

My friends had all left, just wandered away
But here they all are, on my very last day
Some feel sorrow, while other’s feel blame
With all this change, I stay the same

Forever I’ll be, as now I am dead
Mourners kneel down, right by my head
They sigh, and they sob, and then cry out in vain
With all this change, I stay the same

Some are lost lovers, others just foes
I’m beyond now their plight, clear of their woes
I just need a sign, to bear then my name
With all this change, I stay the same

With all the prayers said, I enter the grave
The very last mourner just kisses and waves
My days are all done, devoid of fortune or fame
