Universal Storm

There was no storm
Yet the lightening never ceased
Thunder shook the universe
As Lucifer's fury
Attacked God's glory
And one prepared for defeat
God never bows
Yet tonight
To those who watched
It seemed as though he might

Lucifer gleamed gallantly
God watched defiantly
While Lucifer approached the throne
Angels trembled with terror
But God did not bow
He didn't even stand
He looked at Lucifer
And without a sound
The battle was won
Lucifer shrugged, accepting his defeat
Never giving up but leaving
Understanding for now
The universe was safe
His reign would have to wait
