Preston's Promise

I recently had a baby and wrote this promise to him before he was born

I promise to tell you
"I Love You!" everyday
And do my very best for you
In every single way!

I will do my best
to shield you from hurt,
and protect you from harm!
All the while realizing
you are your own person
And I can't forever,
hold you in my arms!

I will never stifle you,
tell you to "Shut Up!"
and push you aside!
We will go through life together;
You as my Student,
me as your Guide!

I promise to use my whole heart
to be the best mom I can be!
I was shown the best of my mother,
and that is what you will have from me!
