A Journey Begins With a Single Dream

Combining prose-poetry with haiku

She knew it was a dream. She thought. No, it was a dream. She walked, floated, moved through a desert. Santa Ana winds blew against her, swirled sand around her, through her. She walked on. The hot air blasted her with its searing blistering breath...Where was she going? She kept walking, floating, moving to somewhere. She strained to see. Monet like grains hindered her vision. She felt so raw so exposed. It hurt.

Scorching wind fiercely
Sand blasts against the facade
Revealing new life

Water? Not really but it was. Waited for her just past something. She walked, floated, moved toward the water. Then it changed; she was walking in a field or garden. Flowers everywhere. A breeze felt cool, yet she feared it more than the other. It felt too good. The flowers were beautiful; fragrance silken, but she kept walking, faster. A fear. From where. Heart beating faster. Why? Her eyes fell upon a table, roughly hewn, some how comforting. Familiar but not. On it lay a single yellow rose. She smiled. It was better here. Soft rain began to fall. Warm against her skin.

Garden safely hid
Flora, soft rain gives succor
Possibilities

She stopped walking. Absorbing the feel of life. She stiffens. She was not alone. The fear returned, flight her natural response. Not moving, eyes transfixed on the table, the rose placed there by...by whom? She felt him standing behind her, fearing him, but knowing she shouldn't. Stars overhead. The rain had stopped at his request. Arms encircle her. Warm, strong but yielding. Lips close to her ear

Leave the desert where you hide
With a single dream.
