A personl feeling of the winter season
Wintry Lament
by
E C Wesch

I shiver as the cold wind blows,
and snivel freezes on my nose.
This wintry weather I do so hate,
for it sure makes my body ache.

I sit alone and wonder how,
my age I feel more painfully now.
My joints and muscles testify
my energy levels are going dry'.

I long for the warmth when summer comes,
for barefoot in the field I'll run.
Just like a child, l'll feel as free,
as the glorious landscape in front of me.

My soul takes flight, my spirit soars,
my heart beats strong, who could ask for more.
I'll enjoy the warmth of a summer breeze,
and tolerate those annoying bees.

As autumn approaches, my eyes do tear,
I know that winter is drawing near.
Sadness now in my eyes will show,
For soon I'll have to shovel snow.
