2nd place winner for the Shakespearean Sonnet Showdown-round 4 |
Sonnet of the Weak Heart My eyes now fall upon a face so kind, And search the lines that age and life have brought, In hopes to find the truth concealed behind Soft eyes, sweet smile, emotions he forgot. The moments pass like autumns from my youth, Each breath a leaf that falls from guarded limbs, To bare a soul kept hidden from the truth: I yearn to feel love's nectar pour from him. Please stay, weak heart, do not succumb to love, Your wounds still throb, the scars too raw and new. You dare to tempt the pain that comes with love To feel his steamy breath caressing you? Take care, dear heart, for you will surely fall And give a man unknown your loving all. |
