Our Chance

I wrote this poem in history class during freshman year in high school.

Change is our only
Chance
Our inhumanity
Must come to an end
We must stop
Hating each other
We are one world
We are one planet
We must unite
Our history teaches
The lessons
We must change our ways
Or we will face the consequences
People are blind
To what they see
People are deaf
To what they hear
People are blind
To what they do
The Earth is
Our whole community
We must make it safe
The future depends
On you and me
To clean up our act
Change is the only way
We will survive
