Poem about love, longing, and bittersweet memories
I dreamed of you today. Your cheeks flushed
Your voice sweet with love and beauty
That's not true.
Actually, I didn't dream of you at all

I didn't think on the taste of your lips
or the slant of your eyes
I didn't think on your soft whisper
I didn't

I worked and thought of pointless things
I bought detergent and fed the dog
When did I lose my dreams of you?
When did those bittersweet moments leave my day?

I think on you only now as I write this.
My thoughts give form to your ghost
It is not enough
Not even for my dreams
