A poem inspired by the child's prayer, "Now I lay me down to sleep..." |
| Now I lay my head upon this pillow, Sending my dreams to where the wind doth blow. All comfort in encasing all this joy For dreams that only ever just annoy. They serve to further mitigate my chance Of living in this everlasting dance. For sorrows come and sorrows go again, Delighting in the everlasting pain. So now upon this hour I will wake And take upon myself the day to break, Show no fear to the one that I might call To verify the world will suffer all. And out into the world now I must go, Surviving all the highs and all the lows. |
