the abuse from a father to a mother in the perspective of child
Tears flow silently through the night,
Shattered dreams and forgotten souls-
Broken hearts-painful memories,
Blessings of promises full of holes.

A child's cry and a shrilling scream,
The sound of glass against a wall-
It's midnight and the boy can't sleep,
Always happens when darkness falls.

Cuts and bruises, black and blue,
Bleeding lips and puffy cheeks-
Shades to cover swollen eyes,
A voice that quivers when she speaks.

In the distance, lightning strikes,
Thunder rolls and a door is slammed-
Her unborn baby- so innocent,
Another victim of the damned.

The little boy hides down the hall,
Hears his mother's muffled cry-
He knows she's hurting but he's too scared,
So just sits as tears run dry.

Tomorrow, this shall be the past,
No thoughts or feelings of the night-
But when darkness falls behind closed doors,
There will only be screams and tears of fright.
