| AFRICA! AFRICA! September 22, 2004 When the sun glazes the mountains and the clouds, in bits, are blue and the palms, their leaves like fountains, splay about for winds to chew-- Africa! Africa! When the trees against horizons stand with silhouetted boles and birds, the sky's own liaisons, hesitate as thunder rolls-- Africa! Africa! When the wind rustles the grasslands and the ground is lit with dew and skies are split with mellow bands of a lemon-orange hue-- Africa! Africa! When the night pounces slickly and its teeth are dim as death and its paws are plush and prickly and the air is humid breath-- Africa! Africa! |
