If Only For A While

Take a ride with me....

A brisk morning breeze,
A constant sound reverberating in my ears.
The heated blood rising in my cheeks
As my heart beats double time.

Up and down I go
As he moves faster and faster.
As graceful as an Olympic Ice Skater,
As strong as a boxing prize fighter.

I feel so free;
I don’t want to stop.
This exuberant rush of euphoria,
As it fills every fiber of my enthralled being.
I do not wish for this feeling to end,
Nor to come back down from this incredible high.

I want him to fly me to the wondrous heavens,
If only he could.
But down here on earth
We must mournfully remain.

If only for a while,
We can escape the burdens of everyday life.
If only for a while,
We can truly be free.
