A memory of an idyllic childhood playground. |
| It's a lang lang time since I On your belly did lie And bask just you and I In heat of radiant eye That gazed down with no guilting sigh. A lang lang time since I Did with these eyes caress In all seasons of dress And wonder holding breath That you could show such tenderness. A lang lang time since I These distant shores did walk Or stumble oe'r these rocks Both hands and feet to knock Or use your tides as timing clock. It's a lang lang time since I In hands of sand did play As on those rocks the waves O'er time tried to decay While God in wonder had his say. A lang lang time since I On mither's knee did cry As salt did sting my eye From drop that I splashed high As you looked on with ancient eye. A lang lang time since I Did hand to you outreach My innocence to teach Religion not to preach Still more to me than just a beach. A lang lang time since then It's now gone half past ten The sun's gone o'er the benn Time now to rest my pen And say farewell to childhood den. |
