This is about a very special person in my life, my Grandpa Doug.

There has never been someone so special
As my Grandpa Doug
Always there to watch me
To scold
To offer hugs
I was his favorite (shh! don't tell!)

As tough as could be
As soft as a teddy bear
Or as sweet as his special brownies

He would never let anyone down
For every three smiles he offered one frown
He worked so hard
And made it through
The good and bad
Old and new
His retirement from work was well desserved
There has never been someone so special
As my Grandpa Doug
He now watches from a higher plane
He can sit on the Moon as she
Waxes and Wanes
Keeping his hold on all of hearts
Making sure that we laugh
And never fall apart
