This poem expresses a time of deep loss but a desire to live on. |
| Hold but never have How can you not lose which merely is loaned Hold but never have; enjoy but never owned If the pain of loss is something to be measured I would tell the world, it’s not to be treasured To sacrifice all, just to glimpse the chance. That two become one, as it is to dance To love is to risk; to put out a line. Which when rejected leaves a life like mine. When stripped away, left with no power I remind myself, live this next ‘hour’. What will it bring forth, what might my eyes see Who can perceive the future, certainly not me! |
