This is about betrayal and strength coming from it.
GRANITE, TAKEN FOR GRANTED

I do not need your proferred help;
I can maange on my own.
You forget I am a rock;
I stand steady as a stone.
You can lie to me, you know.
I will not be dismayed.
I learned early not to trust,
That trust will be betrayed.
When brightness turns to gloom,
And day give way to night,
No-one else can keep me safe
Or turn the dark to light.
I do not want to need you
To be my good luck charm.
I have all the strength I need
To keep me safe from harm.
So do not fret about me,
Nor worry that I'll fall.
No matter what may happen,
I'll stand ever strong and tall.
