This is about betrayal and strength coming from it. |
| GRANITE, TAKEN FOR GRANTED I do not need your proferred help; I can maange on my own. You forget I am a rock; I stand steady as a stone. You can lie to me, you know. I will not be dismayed. I learned early not to trust, That trust will be betrayed. When brightness turns to gloom, And day give way to night, No-one else can keep me safe Or turn the dark to light. I do not want to need you To be my good luck charm. I have all the strength I need To keep me safe from harm. So do not fret about me, Nor worry that I'll fall. No matter what may happen, I'll stand ever strong and tall. reprinted from JOURNEY FROM DARKNESS, Candace E. Barnes. |
