poem on the departure of a much cherished one , and a hope that he will come back. |
| Under a tree Raining ash and scorched leaves, The sap, consumed long ago, Dead branches: Skeletons stretching their arms to the sky... A benevolent sky,she wondered...waiting She wondered at the dusk; blurred horizon, Soon the dark, Still , she waited, in wonder... A shape behind a tree: it is he?! Oh the mistake again, Nothing but a fall of dead leaves And a freezing dusk... He wouldn't come back ; Why should I linger on these roads? He wouldn't be by. It's been an eternity of drought No sound...scorched lips Scorched eyes And etherized hopes. Am I still alive? She wondered before sinking behind a tree. |
