I looked at the stars last night and thought...
Seven points of light I see.
The Big Dipper, North Star, and me.
Sitting on the front steps,
power out all across the neighborhood.
And I am many wishes behind.
I want so many things,
more like a grocery list,
or prayer request,
than things to ask
a point of light,
in the sky tonight.

Three things I ask of thee,
before you go on your way.
Keep my little Emily safe until
I blow into the hot California desert.
Give me time to hold my lady tight,
hot day and cold night.
Take the burdens and battles of war
far away from Lois Mae
when she again answers the call
to march and protect others far away.

Seven points of light I see.
Street lights slowly wink on.
Stars start to fade.
Wait I wasn't done,
I also want
money riches and fame.
I would settle for
happiness, being with loved ones
hanging out, talking, joking
laughing until we cry
like you and your friends,
there in the sky.
