The Second Commandment

Again, a bringing to light of a largely unknown commandment.

The Second Commandment

Thou shalt not make any graven image.
Ah, we’re not allowed to do anything;
And yet to the Lord we must pay homage.
No likeness of heaven above; nothing!
Nothing upon the earth or water beneath:
This one’s scarcely known and I’m not surprised.
It exists as a rascal beneath a sheath;
Its relative importance realized
As neither great, nor even existent.
I myself am willing to renounce this;
And I should think to that, most would assent
And therefore adherence is to dismiss.
Thou shalt not make any graven image
This remains unknown for a continued age.
