My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you?

How to Read the Tarot

Begin by brewing a cup of tea,
a nervine, lemon balm or chamomile,
this is after all, your future.
A reading at the dark of the moon is best,
before the night creatures crawl
and bad humours fill the air.
Pick a circular deck, with a fairy-tale motif,
and no reversals.
Hold a question in your heart,
shuffle the cards and place them on the table.
Choose only two.
Like the ancient Israelites,
these are your seer stones, Urim and Thumimm,
black and white, yes or no.
Isn't that all you were asking?

Beast of Wands

In the end
all systems fail us.
Empires fall, new ones arise.
The doctors say there is no cure.
Loved ones die,
then so do we.
There are reports
of something on the other side.
So gather those whispered messages.
Proceed through the world
with feline grace.
Keep your senses open
and attend to the electric humming
in your body.
Proceed, till your time comes.

My husband is facing major medical issues at this time so no poetry, no blog. Any and all prayers welcomed. I feel we have been traumatized by the medical industrial complex. He is in a rehab facility now and hoping for improvement. Don't get old in Amerikkka, Don't get sick in Amerikkka.

If I Were A Snowflake

If I were a snowflake
I would be melted
into water
without a quaver
with no wish to linger
as solid.
Water, holy water
tears, holy tears
but first I would catch
snowflakes on my tongue.
A simple Eucharist
for this snowflake.

Time Lines

My lines,
they are ley lines,
crooked, they are not straight.
Labyrinths are coiled and kinked.
Two steps forward, one back,
Circular time
is now.

Three Tiny Happy Things

1. Today is National Unfriend Day.
Yesterday I Googled you
and learned you passed in April.
2. Last night I dreamed of you.
You unfriended me years ago
3. but here you are vibrating
the strings of my space time.
Politics divided us.
Now, we walk in spirit.
We exist in a web of relations
that ripples outwards
into the intimate ocean of time.
I pray you have found your heaven.
You are what you have abandoned.

Eaglets for Epiphany

I am on egg watch.
M15 and his Lady, paired eagles are nesting now.
Their ancestors birthed
in this same space for generations.
Time echoes for them
in endless loops of instinct,
of Earth and nature.
I measure the angles of my life
by a string, a prayer,
and a memory I haven't yet named.
There will be eaglets by Epiphany.
Another birth in a clock time
I do not comprehend.

prompt: a poem about birds

Heretic Coffee

His (trump) greed is infinite
and cruelty is the point,
injustice is raison d'etre.
Can our words, faith, ideas,
and strength defeat him
and help us escape this plague?
Empathy is not a zero sum game.
Come in unity and have a coffee with me,
we will dream
we will remember together,
perhaps we will pray.
What didn't I do?
What didn't you do?
What will we do?

14 lines
prompt: none--but at least 12 lines

Tarot of the Crone--VIII--Justice--Know your responsibility and you will know yourself. Weave a web of justice.

Note: Heretic Coffee is the name of a cafe in Portland giving out free breakfast to those in need.

Halloween

Yes, the leaves fell faster
thaen I imagined
but it is October after all.
Sometimes you need broken magick:
a nest of fog
a ghost cat
drag queen pumpkins.
The news from real life
is hard and horrible.
My Halloween spell
will carry on the breeze,
Enchantment for everyone.

prompt: use the words pumpkin, cat, fog

Time

A bounty of time
allows the mind to wander,
to enter stories
beyond control of the algorithm.

A plenitude of time exists
to serve us
apart from the state of nations,
away from carrying the world
on our shoulders.

An abundance of time
is medicinal.
Time to step away
from the screen.

Into the Woods

I went deep into the woods today,
further than I have ever been.
I flung away the ridiculously heavy,
sweaty red velvet hooded cloak.
I stood naked as Eve
before Jehovah told her it was shameful.
I had forgotten the bliss
of my own skin.
I began to roar,
nay HOWL.
I felt prickles on my scalp.
The mother wolves
joined my chorus.
I will never believe
that old, damn fairytale again.
