Writer's Cramp submission for 10/25/24: pain, loyalty, town. Poem. |
| Ahead Looking Back The horse plodded on Hooves kicking up dust Heading towards a place With no one to trust Passing the homestead Pain burst in his chest His home in ruins His wife laid to rest His fingers stroked metal Six-shooter at his waist Loyalty torn to shreds Revenge he could taste The babe in her womb That never drew breath His brother’s betrayal Would end with his death No matter to him His brother’s renown This nightmare’s end Lay ahead in that town Line count = 20 Contest Details ▶︎ |
