Etheree poem for the 13 Poetic Days of Halloween Contest 2025

E.T., alien from the Green Planet
befriends a bewildered family,
when he lands suddenly on earth
so beloved, becomes he
but homesickness prevaiils
his heart light, so bright
beacon of hope
magical
wondrous
strange
far
away
getting weak
but bonds are strong
he longs to phone home
on Halloween he tries
and soon E.T. gets his wish
he will miss Elliott and all
memories though he will surely keep
like the joy of riding a bike in air.
