A weeklong trip covered five great cities.

In the world’s largest book stack
I read of an east coast train
And began a week long journey
In October rain.

From D.C.’s Union Station I began
On to Baltimore where Poe
Was buried in a churchyard
Two hundred years ago.

I saw Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell,
The one the Quakers know
And suffragettes and former slaves,
Both now and years ago.

From New York and the steps of Dendur
At the Metropolitan Museum of Art
I came to Boston’s Freedom Trail
And from there to home depart.
