When Tom woke up as John

This story describes what happens when Tom wakes up as a different person one day

Trrriiinnnnggg, went the alarm bell. Tom, half-asleep and tucked in his bed, mumbled something. He had put the alarm for 6 o'clock the previous night, to be on time for a meeting with his CEO the next morning.

Tom got out of bed reluctantly and slipped on his Hawai Chappals. He wanted to sleep more, but knew he could not afford to. He headed straight to the bathroom to splash water on his sleepy face and take a leak.

Tom opened the bathroom door, switched on the light, and looked in the mirror. That very moment, he screamed out loud at what he saw. The person in the mirror was not Tom. It was someone else.

Tom was shocked. The man in the mirror did not have Tom’s forehead scar. The caucasian nose, that gave Tom his identity, was missing. No thin lips or strong jaw, either. Instead, the man Tom saw had a clean forehead, blunt nose, thick lips, and double chin. What was happening?

Just the other day, Tom read about a man who had once woken up in a stranger’s body. Was that a coincidence, or was there something more to it?

Tom was in a quandary. How would he face his boss? His colleagues? What would he say to his wife and parents? Would he be even allowed to enter his office, given how unlike Tom he looked? The most worrying thing: would he ever be able to return to being Tom, his real self?
