WDC's Refrigerator Magnets

Magnetic poetry anyone?

Writing.Com has its own version of magnetic poetry called Sliders. It's a fun tool that's overlooked by a majority of WDCers. To quote the Storymaster, "Sliders have to be manually setup for the tab to show. It's an old feature that most people likely don't look into. Also, it doesn't work on mobile at all ..."

Sliders can be used as a social activity for interacting with your WDC friends or a tool to help relieve "writer's block". It's interesting to see how a random set of everyday words can encourage people to manipulate words, expressing themselves in unexpected ways.

Find your Sliders tab:
At the top of your portfolio page is a list of all your tabs:
Portfolio Reviews Biography Notebook Blog Community *Down*
                                                                                                   Fans
                                                                                                       Sliders
Click on the drop-down arrow to find Fans and Sliders.

Remember, your Sliders need to be manually setup. By clicking on the *Gear* gear icon in the top right corner of your sliders tab, you will pull up the Manage Sliders page and set up your sliders from there.

1. Select who has access to your sliders in the dropdown menu
2. Below that you will find an area where you can set up your list of nouns, verbs, adverbs and phrases, etc. up to 150.
Just follow the posted directions:
"Enter each word or phrase on it's own line. Each line will become a Slider that can be moved around. You may use basic WritingML but tags that produce "large" results will not work (ie: image, bItem, etc). For best results, limit each Slider to one or two words and remember to include words like "the", "a", "an", "and", etc. Using the words of your favorite poem(s) is also a creative way to explore them further."
3. Rate your content appropriately
4. Click "store list" button
This takes a "snapshot" of your list, Your sliders are now ready. Click on your Sliders tab and start sliding your words to create. Be sure to "take a snapshot" to store and share your new creations.

Head on over to my sliders  Open in new Window.if you'd like to try it out.
