Living in the international dorms would be fun! Except if anyone found Miyuki's secret.

"I can't wait to see who I'll be rooming with this year!" Is what Miyuki should've been thinking. Instead she was just hoping she'd get along with the person she'd share an apartment with.

She lay on the top bunk reading Tsubasa Chronicles. Miyuki's super sensitive ears picked up the thudding of a suitcase being dragged up the steps. Finally the door to her room opened. A small dark haired girl looked up at her.

Miyuki leapt down from the top bunk a big grin plastered on her face. "Hi, I'm your roommate. Whats your name?"

The other girl flinched "Asahi." She whispered the syllables like a secret.

This is going great, Miyuki thought. It hasn't even been thirty seconds and Asahi already seems terrified of me. She tried to tone down her energy. After all most people's roommates weren't twice their size. Miyuki cleared her throat "right...I'll just go...so you can get settled."

Oh my gawd! Why was she always so awkward?! Humans couldn't know she was part demon. Miyuki had promised her mom she'd be good this year. She couldn't be rejected by another roommate. It hurt too much.

Miyuki flopped onto the large sofa near the bay window. She was busy reviewing her class schedule when Asahi walked into the main room of their dormitory. Maybe they'd be able to bond?

"So, whats your major, Asahi?" Miyuki always asked this. A nice safe getting to know you question. Good way to start!

"Biology"

"Me too! So what specifically are you studying?"

"I want to go into Neurobiology."

"Why's that?"

"I want to study people with PTSD and what makes them so strong."

Miyuki's face grimaced without meaning to. What could a tiny girl from Japan know about trauma? Had she been scarred by the Demon King's claws? It didn't look like it.

A thousand childhood horrors replayed in Miyuki's mind. Every fight she'd had with her dad, the Demon King, replayed in her head. The excruciating memories almost made her transform. Miyuki quickly shoved the memories to one side.

"Wow, thats interesting, good luck with that," she told Asahi. "I, uh, gotta go buy some textbooks. I'll be back; nice chatting!"

A few nights went by. So far everything was okay. Then midterms and nightmares came. Miyuki had woken herself and Asahi up a couple times. Apparently, Miyuki screamed and swore in her sleep. Not to mention growling.

One afternoon, Miyuki decided to make cookies to try and smooth things over. Embarrassingly she only managed to share two of the cookies with Asahi. Miyuki ended up eating the other ten. Damn her demonic appetite.

One night she heard Asahi talking to their neighbors. Her roommate was crying. Miyuki listened to what the other girl said. "My roommate doesn't act like an American. She acts like a Demon!"

Miyuki admitted she had a huge temper. It had gotten her into trouble before. Still Asahi figuring out what Miyuki really was hurt. She let out a low hiss and a growl as her nails grew into claws, her horns pushed their way out again and her tail ripped through her trousers.

As she fled, Miyuki heard Asahi's terrified screams. This was too much shame. Miyuki fled into the woods nearby and opened a portal to the Underworld. Hell was where a wicked creature belonged after all.
