A bedtime rhyme for dreamers— Lay down to sleep and listen to a story for dreaming.

Welcome to my children’s storybook rhyme.

The Dreaming One

A bedtime rhyme for dreamers big and small
Lay down to sleep and listen to a story for all.

Long ago, in skies so wide,
Before the stars had learned to hide,
A girl was born of mist and light,
Her eyes aglow with endless night.

She wasn’t made of skin or bone,
But clouds and songs and silver tone.
They called her then, and still today,
The Dreaming One who’s far away.

Where she would walk, the trees would gleam,
With violet fire and stardust steam.
The rivers shone with glowing beams,
And flowed with laughter out of dreams.

Her hair was spun from comet trails,
Her breath could lift the softest sails.
Her voice, a hum that stars could hear—
It made the farthest planets cheer.

She held a bird both bright and shy,
With wings that matched the evening sky.
It flew between the earth and moon,
And sang the hearts of children’s tune.

It carried dreams both big and small,
To skies where no one else could crawl.
And sometimes brought a whisper back,
Wrapped in silence, soft and slack.

They say if you sleep under night’s gleam,
And close your eyes inside a dream,
The Dreaming One might wander near,
And place a spark behind your ear.

She doesn’t speak in words or sound,
But makes you feel the world around—
Like maybe, just beneath your skin,
A little lantern glows within.

Some grown-ups say she’s just pretend,
A fairy tale that has no end.
A painting hung up high above,
A bedtime story made with love.

But others know she’s always near,
In quiet thoughts and winds we hear.
She’s in the hush before you sleep,
And in the way the shadows creep.

And when the world forgets to dream,
And nothing’s quite the way it seems,
When stars grow dim and hope feels small,
She’ll wake again and hear our call.

She won’t come down as queen or knight,
But as a girl made soft of light.
She’ll smile and walk the world once more,
And guide us like she did before.

So when you lay your head tonight,
And turn out every single light,
Close your eyes and start to drift—
Your dreams might catch a cosmic lift.

And if a quiet feather falls,
Or stardust sparkles on your walls,
You’ll know she came—just passing through—
The Dreaming One who dreams with you.

A Note About This Rhyme
The image was created sometime in 2024,
and back then, I wrote a small story
about an old, forgotten legend to go with it.

Today, while reading through some tucked-away tales,
I came across that story again—
and it suddenly felt like it was meant to be a bedtime rhyme.

So, because I’ve always loved writing in verse,
this is what came to mind.
