a poem for Epiphany 2026



Epiphany

On Epiphany, I chalk
20 + C + M + B + 26
on my doorstep.
I wait for the magi,
and to hear the caravan bells.
Unlike old Befana
I will not linger or tarry
because I have chores.
This year I will follow
the caravan and the bells
and bring my humble self
to the Christ child,
and a warm Krispy Kreme
for Mary.
