| The perfect vacation is a worthwhile goal. But the idea of achieving it is nonsense. The embarrassing truth is clear in how our spring break went last year. We actually planned that horror. Our B&B was unique, with many themed rooms. Ours had a space theme. We originally signed up for a Harry Potter suite, but got bumped for a bachelor party. Girls dressed like Hermoine, Ginny, and Luna came and went all night. Spice was on their minds. We had an airlock, and chrome it was not what we planned. We tried to play Lost in Space with the wands and robes we had brought and tried to squeeze all six of us into the limited bunk space the room afforded. Still, we tried to take the switch well. They apologized for double booking our suite and gave us our room for a week at the price of just a weekend's stay. Not that we found that very satisfactory. The third day, we had planned an escape room adventure. We had an appointment at noon. They let us in the room and locked us in. Two hours later, they let us out, apologizing that they hadn't reset the room so we could get ourselves out. No wonder none of the clues had led anywhere. Our lunch on the covered bistro patio on the last day before our bus ride home was ruined by torrential rain and flawed awning construction. We got more wet than the day we spent at the water park. Still looking back, the trip was the most fun we had ever had together. Maybe, despite its flaws, it was the perfect vacation. 277 words prompt ▶︎ |
