On April, 10, 2024, there was a formal dinner in my honor. This dinner was attended by most of the top ophthalmologists in the country. I was able to extract the optic nerves from cadavers. This type of transplant wasn't possible back in beginning of the century. This transplant, like kidney, liver, lung, and heart, would give people a second chance at life. They wold be able to drive, be able to perform delicate, intricate, jobs that require good eyesight.

The world would be a better place. People would be able to trust themselves with jobs that are more specialized. The first person to undergo the transplant would be a thirty-eight year old man who hasn't been able to drive because of his poor eyesight. The transplant was successful. He'll have to be watched for rejection. But six months post surgery has clear sight.

Barbara Stanwyck was an actress I always liked and admired. I saw some episodes of Big Valley and that was when I first saw her. I wasn't in the movies of the 40's. When Dynasty began,, I was surprised to see her but I loved the character of Constance Colby. What endeared her to me was that she was playing a strong, no nonsense character, Constance Colby.

When she was cast as Mary Carson in the Thorn Birds, I knew this was going to be something to watch. When I heard that she passed away, I was sad. It seemed that all the great actors were passing away.

The character I would have wanted to see is Sue Ellen Ewing . I think there would have been a lot of material that could have been used. How would Sue Ellen manage raising her son while trying to get treatment for alcoholism? How would she manage her son's adolescence? Would she be able to build a company from the ground up that would rival her ex-husband, J. R.?

While she seemed weak in the beginning, and allowed her husband to walk all over her, he constant focus was always her son, John Ross. A cosmetics company, a clothing line, or even a home decorating company. All of these would have been great choices for her. Her personality was very outgoing. She would succeed in anything she did.

I've always liked John Forsythe. When the T.V. show, Charlie's Angels, first aired., it made me wonder who voiced Charlie. My father told me who it was and I seemed to remember seeing hime in commercials. Eventhough Bachelor Father began in the late 50's, I did see some episodes.

When Dynasty began, I was in heaven. I watched that show every week. When there were season finales, I, along with other fans, had to wait till fall to see what would happen. I wish that show could've gone a little longer, but, looking back, theymade the right choice. I did watch the reunion show.

Anything he was cast in seemed to have the Midas touch. I do wonder how he would have been in a comedy.

I saw this movie as a field trip in 1972. When I brought home the permission slip, I was excited. I could sit and watch a movie. I wouldn't be bullied. I didn't have any homework. I could wear regular clothes, not that infernal uniform.

At first, I thought this movie was going to be boring. While I was watching this movie, I was pleasantly surprised. It held mt interest from beginning to end. It didn't hurt that there were cute guys in it. This movie depicted a revolution that was happening in Russia in the early 1900's. I asked my teacher if that revolution really happened. Her answer was yes.

I've seen this movies several times since then. I love the music that was in it, and the dances. I even used Sunrise, Sunset as the Mother/Son/ Father/Daughter dance at my first wedding. That marriage burned just like the town in the movie.

When I read this prompt, the first show I thought of was M*A*S*H. I watched this show from its onset. At first, I didn't think that a show about the medical personnel who patch up soldiers was funny. No war is funny. I know that the characters wqere trying to find a way to exist there. I would often ask my father what it really was like since he served in the Korean War. I found out that he was never stationed in Korea. He served hiis time in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Over the years, the show's laugh track was eliminated. There were some episodes that I found boring. But they were few and far between. Among these were:Edwina 1972, The Army/Navy Game1973, and Henry, In Love1973. These episodes seemed boring to me.

On the flip side, episodes that hit the bulls eye were :Sometime You Hear the Bullet 1973}, Adam's Ribs 1974, Abyssinia, Henry 1975, Point of View1978,Goodbye, Radar 1979.It seemed that these episodes had more thought put into them. It didn't hhurtthat they dealt with friends leaving.

This show held its weight in gold. It won several Emmys for acting, directing, and storytelling. It seemed when Alan Alda began writing and directing episodes, the show began to improve. It was a good idea that he was involved in the behind the scenes. He would have the actors' point of view.

When the show's finale aired on Tuesday, February 28, 1983, I was excited at first , but felt let down at its conclusion. I realized that the actors went on with their lives, other projects, and other work. To me, it felt like the death of family member. Thank you for giving the audience a look behind the war.

Roots opened up a whole new interest in finding your extended family. When this series was first advertised, I showed a intense interest. My father sensed this, and forbade me from watching the series. He was, and still is, prejudiced against blacks. I missed the series.

I told myself that there would be a time when it would be rebroadcast. When it was, I made time to watch. It was wonderful and worth the wait. Rootswas done very well. I know there may be people who think less of me after they read this, but I think it was hidieous that Americans did this to blacks.

When I get some money, I'd like to purchase the series on DVD. Then my son will have an opportunity to view a supreme series.

The Waltonswas a show that ,even though it's been off the air for forty three years, still resonates today. I loved this show from the onset. At the time of its original airing, I would miss a few episodes due to other matters. Then, there weren't VCRs or On Demand or cable. I missed it, then I lost out. There were times when reruns were hown at the end of the season and throughout the summer. The new season began in September like clockwork.

My parents grew up in the 1930s and 1940s. They would tell me stories about how there wasn't enough money, and you were very luck if you had a job and were able to provide for yourself and your family. I thought it was great that they were able t obtain the original radio programs. That was the entertainment. To hear my mother talk , it was school homework, and then doing household chores until it was time for bed. I asked her if she ever could go outside to play. She said not in her family.

In the 1940s, things weren't any better. There rationing, saving items for the troops to use in combat, I was a bit confused . When WWII began, what happened to the Depression? My mother tried to explain it. I now understand, but then I didn't. There were many things that Americans did to help the war effort..

There were several episodes that I really loved. The Foundling, The Fire Storm, Day of Infamy, and The Empty Nest are among them. On the other hand, there were some I didn't care for. These wereThe Caretakers, The Star, and The Separation,. These were from the early years of the series. There have been reunion movies, and I watched them also.

I wrote an earlier entry and mentioned Apple's Way. Both of these show were created by Earl Hamner. One was successful while the other wasnt. It's too bad that happened. I considered him having the Golden typewriter.

Dear Shadowpup,

This is your recliner speaking. You haven't sat and relaxed in me for quite a while. For the last fourteen years, I can count ,maybe twenty times. The two people who used me were Matthew and John. I know you're staying upstairs due to your back problems and your leg pains. Is there ever going to be a time when I can comfort you? I miss you, I want to feel your body in my lap.

I've taken it upon myself to change a few things. First, every time your husband tries to sit in me, I will thrust him off with my cushions. Next, when Matthew tries to jump on me, my footrest will nudge him off. As for Shadow, she isn't allowed non me in any form. Since you've neglected me , I have taken matters into my own arms. You left your cell phone in the file cabinet. I used my arms and dialed Art Van Furniture to see if they want to buy me. They refused.

When one of the maintenance men came in, they made mention that they wished to have a massaging chair like me. My head went back in excitement. When they were leaving , I walked right behind them. The maintenance man saw me, picked me up and put me in his truck bed. I felt loved, wanted, and comforted. I hope that you aren't too crushed.

I hope that the next recliner you purchase gets a better life. I wish it and you all the best. I'm sorry, but we recliners have to look out for ourselves.

Peace,
Your Former Recliner

I'm physically challenged, so I don't work outside the home. I haven't held a job since 2001. I was finishing my Masters degree when I had my son. I graduated when he was four months old. After graduation, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. I don't care what anyone says. Being a parent is a full time job that is difficult, at best.

The first year of my son's life just zoomed by. I didn't have time to enjoy it. My work space was the kitchen and living room. If I wasn't feeding him, was making bottles, changing diapers, and going through old papers. Toys for the baby as well as toys for the dog were strewn all over on the floor. It was an obstacle course. I had to stay alert so I wouldn't break my neck.

Now, that baby is in school. The dog is almost fourteen. Itis much quieter here. This gives me the opportunity to reflect, refresh, and soothe my frzzled nerves. Maybe I'll write.
