Talking about life and turning it into ideas for stories and poems.
It was LostGhost: Seeking & Learning that inspired me to start a BLOG/PLOG. I constantly have ideas flooding my mind, at least most of the time. However, sometimes I'm like anyone else and suffer from the dreaded writers block. When that happens, I can come back here to a journal of interesting topics and lists of words fit to inspire the worst best poet.

Please join me as I blog about life and plog about poetry. It's all combined into one for your inspirational needs. Feel free to use anything as inspiration for yourself. Settle in and stay awhile. Visit with Angelica. Maybe she'll be as demanding awesome with you as she is with me!

My Muse

My muse is a poetry pixie dressed in pink
Yes, from her inspiring potions I plan to drink
Many nights she whispers words of inspiration
Until one night I need her and she leaves me in frustration
She is a clever little imp, full of spice and sugar
Even with her attitude, I’ll keep the little bugger

Describe the wackiest but most useful advice you've ever received. This could be interesting!

I'm going to really have to think on this one, and my brain is protesting! *Laugh* Most of the time, people come to me for advice. Recently, a young lady at our church got married, but I can't share the advice we all gave to her! *Blush* *Laugh*

Oh, I know some advice I got recently. My poor little Choodle (that's Chihuahua and toy Poodle mix) had gotten a hold of something that made him itch really bad on both sides of his head. The two sores were in the exact same place, and he wouldn't leave them alone to let them heal. I called my groomer (who is also a friend) to see what she would recommend, or if she thought I should take my sweet baby to the vet. Her advice was to give him Benadryl. Yes, the same kind you give to kids. Well, I have kids who have allergies, so we had some in the house. I couldn't figure out how I was going to give this liquid medicine to the dog. You won't believe what I did. I tried to get him to lick it off the spoon. He refused, of course. So then I just tried to pour it from the spoon into the back of his mouth. Epic fail! We had Benadryl everywhere except in the dog. Then my eight year old daughter, who is brilliant by the way, asked me why I didn't use the medicine dropper. *Facepalm* So, we got the medicine dropper and gave him the medicine very easily. Two great things happened. He slept all night without itching, and the sores started to heal. We only gave him a very small dose of the Benadryl, and only once a day for two or three days. Those sores healed right up, and whatever had him itching like that went away.

I bet you wish you were a fly on the wall that night. It was pretty crazy of me to try to give medicine to my little doggy with a spoon. *Laugh*

The title of my entry is the name of a song from Disney's "Mary Poppins".

Prompt: Who is your favorite Star Wars character? Luke Skywalker? Darth Vadar, Yoda, C3PO, R2D2, Ewoks, Jabba The Hut, Hans Solo or Princess Leia? Not a Star Wars Fan? How about Star Trek, V or ET? Have fun with this.

Really? *Facepalm* The only Star Wars movie that I liked was the one with Jarjar Binkssp? However, the regular Star Wars fans didn't like this one because he added too much comedy. Ha! That's the main reason I liked it. So, in the following episode, he is an ambassador and is quite serious. He's not messing up or getting thrown out of his city. *Rolleyes* What's wrong with a little levity in Star Wars? Otherwise, I understand very little of what is going on other than "the Force be with you" and Yoda talks in a weird syntax. Which, by the way, is funny as well, but you don't see them taking out Yoda.

I'm just not a science fiction buff. Nor am I an epic movie watcher. If you have to watch six three hour movies to figure out what's happening, then I'm not really there. I guess one of the reasons I don't like science fiction is because I don't understand most of the jargon. Does anyone? I would be totally lost trying to write something in this genre as well. I envy all those who can write, read, or watch most science fiction, and be able to keep up with it. For now, I'll just stick with my easy to understand romance books, where I don't have to work too hard to relax and read. *Smile*

Until next time... May the Force be with your pen!

How did you make your first dollar? Baby-sitting, paper route or..... My first job was definitely babysitting. I have always loved kids, and eventually babysitting turned into working at the Christian school where I graduated from. I worked as a sub, and then eventually ran the daycare. That seems like a lifetime ago!

My babysitting experience...

I fix your supper and it's ready.
Let's sit down and watch a movie.
We'll have a snack and brush your teeth.
I tuck you in bed and cover you with sheets.

Your parents return from their date.
She takes me home because it's late.
She hands me some money, my first ever earned.
I go to bed tired, but many things I have learned!

What should they eulogize? Write the perfect funeral speech for your own funeral. ~Another blog post/poem!

In the ground we lay her to rest
and remember she gave her best.
She greeted her friends with a smile,
though she was hurting all the while.

She liked to write, and that's a fact.
She loved to sing, but not to act.
She played piano full of heart.
Sign language was, to her, an art.

But, most of all, her favorite job
was that of a mom to her mob.
Her husband was her dearest friend,
and stayed with her right to the end.

Thank you, Lord, for this dear loved one.
From her daughter, son, and husband.

Okay, I was going to make this funny, but couldn't as I wrote it. Then I had to fight back tears as I thought of my friends and family grieving. I love them all so much, and I don't want to cause them pain. *Cry* I hope this didn't sound boastful as it wasn't meant to be that way.

Prompt: Name five colors that describe you. (Well, I can only think of three) *Laugh*

Well, I am going to blog, but I'm going to write a poem at the same time. This is NaPoWriMo, and I am already behind because of all the Easter Eggs I'm coloring for my brilliant friends here. *Bigsmile*

The Colors of Me

I am pink.
My favorite color is pastel pink,
and when I stop to feel and think
why I like the color pastel pink;
it's because it makes me feel girly!

I am purple.
Purple reminds me of royalty,
it shows that I'm a child of the King.
He has clothed me in his royalty
while giving me a home, heavenly.

I am white.
Jesus precious blood has made me white.
Pure and clean, made me forgiven, bright!
I thank my Lord for making me white,
just like heavens gates that are pearly.

April 1, 2014: In your opinion, what is the worst event in history to have ever taken place? Could something like this possibly happen again?

In my honest opinion, one of the worst things that has ever happened in history is the Jewish Holocaust. This was an attempt to wipe out an entire race of people just because of what they looked like and what their bloodline was. These people were ripped from their families, placed in concentrations camps, had numbers tattooed on their arms, and when their number came up, they were sent into the gas chambers where thousands were killed. There were mass graves because no one cared about the individual.

I think this is still be repeated all over the world today, though in smaller numbers. The worst part of it is, leaders of countries are doing it to their own people. I absolutely think that it is possible for this to happen again. Though I think next time, it won't be a race, but something else. It will be the sickly and the poor that are wiped out. I have a whole theory on this, but if I go into it, y'all might think I'm crazy.

However, I am not the only one who thinks that we are guinea pigs, and one of the ways they make us a test subject is through vaccines. It would blow your mind if you read some of the deep dark secrets where vaccines are concerned. I have a friend who is an RN and she does not vaccinate her children. I don't vaccinate mine, and I have many other friends that feel the same way.

My last thought... Why do I have a set of relatively healthy parents? My mom's parents passed away in their late 80's or early 90's. My dad's parents are still living, and my grandpa is 86 and my grandma is 94. Think about this. My brother and I both have autoimmune disorders. He has a rare kidney disease, and at 39 years old, he is going on dialysis and soon will be on the kidney transplant list. He also has ankylosing spondilitis which is a form of psoriatic arthritis. Now my dad does have psoriasis so there could be a connection there. I have fibromyalgia and Sjogren's Syndrome. I am dealing with daily pain, depression, insomnia, and the list goes on and on. Think about people you know who were born sometime in the late 60's to the early 80's. Do many of them have something going on with their health? We don't know what these vaccines are doing to our body. They do affect the immune system, but not always in a positive way.

Okay, that's my weird rant because I am totally in a very painful flare, and I have been for over a week now. Going to get a massage tomorrow, so hopefully I'll feel better, and my blog posts will be more upbeat. *Bigsmile*

March 31, 2014: What movie always makes you cry? (Or at least makes you emotional.)

I hate crying at movies. I know I'm a girl, (at least I was the last time I checked *Rolleyes* *Laugh*) but I don't care that much about "chick flicks". I love a good romantic comedy, as long as it isn't too sad near the end. In fact, if I know there is a good movie out there, and someone tells me that it will make you cry, I avoid it with a passion! I know you've heard of the movie "Marley and Me." In fact, most of you have probably seen it. Not me! I know it's funny most of the way through, but my told me it makes you cry near the end. Couldn't watch it.

After telling you all of this, you would never suspect that I am a closet Hallmark Channel junkie at Christmas time. *Laugh* It's true. I love the Christmas romances they show. I know, most of them have the sad moments, and I might tear up just a little, but I'll never tell anyone. Well, except I'm telling you now. *Facepalm*

So here you have it! My love/hate relationship with movies that make you cry. And my little weakness, but I know you won't tell anyone! *Smirk*

Tell us about a talent you'd love to have but don't.

But I'm so talented! How can I possibly add anything more to my repertoire? *Laugh* This actually is hard because I don't think I'm an expert at anything I do, but I do a lot of things okay. I have some talents that I'd like to improve. I can always improve at playing the piano, singing, writing, drawing, jewelry design, crocheting, and the list could go on and on.

Okay, as I am writing this and brainstorming, I think I've come up with an answer. I wish that I had an easier time selling myself. Now don't go getting the wrong idea! *Blush* What I mean is that when you go to sell your wares such as crafted items, books, cds, etc, you are really selling yourself. I may be out going and bubbly online and even if you meet me in person, but I don't have much confidence in myself and what I'm worth. I will price the things I make and then I think... "No one will pay that. It's not worth it. My time really isn't that valuable." In other words, I'm really good as sabotaging myself. I lack self confidence and self esteem.

This actually has proven to be very detrimental in my life. I was married once to someone I was not in love with because I thought he was the only one that would ever marry me. Let this be a lesson to you younger girls. NEVER settle because you think it's all you are worth. I learned this lesson the hard way. I'm so thankful that I am now married to the love of my life. Thank the Lord I got out of the other relationship, but not before my self esteem was ripped to shreds.

I know this is not the talent that was meant by the question, but I think believing in yourself is as much a talent as all of the physical things I just mentioned. Like my mom, I am a jack of many trades, but unlike her, I am a master of none. My mom is awesome, and the ultimate roll model, so I'm not putting her down at all. However, she also was either very humble or did not have much self esteem. My mom is one of the most talented women I know! We do have different creative interests, but she is soooo creative!!!

Finally, after writing all of the above, I have come up with a physical talent that I wish I had. Even though I play the piano, I am dependent on having music in front of me. I wish I could play by ear. There are many songs I would love to play that I just am not able to.

Thanks for reading this unusual post. I hope it made sense. After all, it's 11pm.

PROMPT FOR DAY 24 - March 27, 2014: You get some incredibly, amazingly, wonderfully fantastic news. Whats the first thing you do?

It depends... If my hubby is with me, I reach over an get some smooches! *Kiss* If my hubby is not with me, then of course, I text or call him first! We love to get creative with emoticons, so I would probably throw in some *Confettip* *Confettiv* and some *Balloonb* *Balloonv* *Balloong*. Then, of course, there will be the *Inlove* face and maybe a few *Kiss* *Kiss* *Kiss*. After all of that, then I will share the amazing news. By then, he will just think he's going to be well loved that day. *Laugh*. Of course, whatever my amazing, wonderful, fantastic news is, he will be incredibly happy!

So, after smooching my hubby, if he is with me, I'll either call my mother, or I'll post on facebook. Now, I am just as addicted to facebook as I am WDC, so this is a given. *Bigsmile* I'll put just enough information to get everyone wondering, and they will have to write me back, and not just hit "like" *Thumbsup*. After I get bunches of questions sent to me, I may or may not give details, depending on what that fantastic news is.

Now for my own incredibly, amazingly, wonderfully fantastic news...

*Confettip* *Confettiv* *Balloonb* I have hit the 20 lb. mark in weight loss, and it is very hard for me to lose weight because of my arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm not very mobile. So, I guess the third place I'll share my news is with all of my awesome friends here on WDC. (Actually, I haven't shared this on facebook, so really y'all are the 2nd to know!)

Prompt: Tell us about your favorite way to get lost in a single activity - running, chopping veggies, folding laundry etc. What's it like when you are in the zone?

It's hard to chose an activity to get lost in. I can tell you that I don't get lost in chopping veggies or folding laundry. *Laugh* I love to read. I can pick up a book and read for hours, and when I look up, I can't believe the time that has passed. If it's a really good book, I will get so engrossed that I can feel what the characters are feeling. I can see what's happening just before me. Not all books are this way, but once in a while, I get a book that I just cannot put down! *Bookopen*

I get involved in writing the same way. I love to create characters and then see their personality emerge. I love creating scenes and allowing them to become three dimensional to me. When I'm really involved in my story, I can sit down at one time and write the whole thing. Then, later, I will become just as involved as I read and edit, change and create some more. It leaves me breathless and excited. I become proud of my little baby. *Bookstack2*

When I am in the zone with either activity, I am transported to another world and time. I can be skinny and young, or I can be a debutante at a ball. I can be a woman doctor before her time, or I can be an innocent person caught up in mystery and intrigue. No matter what, I always come back to the real world and appreciate what I have, but it's still fun to get caught up in a good book, whether I'm reading or writing it. *Smile*

March 15, 2014: Cesare Pavese is known for saying that 'We do not remember days, we remember moments.' Describe your moment.

How can I choose just one? There are so many. If I chose a moment with one child, the other would be jealous. I wrote all about my infertility issues and how I received my son in "Invalid Entry. The story of how my hubby and I met is already here in my port. "My first love These are the big moments that we think about, I guess. What about the small moments? The quiet times where we can just be alone with our thoughts are some of the best moments...

I sat with a newborn baby in my arms. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him in his hospital bassinet. I couldn't believe they were letting me take him home with me. Now I sat there in the quiet of the night and had a panic attack! With all that was wrong with this tiny being, there was no way I could be responsible for that. Then God reminded me that He was the one who was in control. He quieted those fears and let me relax again and just enjoy my sweet baby boy. I continued to rock him and hum a little lullaby...

A few years later, I sat with another newborn. This baby was very fussy, and had to be held or else she cried incessantly. I do believe that God had another lesson for me to learn with her. She had colic and a milk allergy which kept her little tummy all messed up. No wonder my precious girl cried. In order to hold her and still allow me to get some work done, I got a sling. With this contraption, she sat/laid right up against my tummy and my heart. I will never know what it's like to be pregnant, but that was probably a pretty close second. Those moments spent with my Abby helped me to create an unshakable foundation and a bond. Those were special moments...

Tonight my house is quiet. Both of the children are at a sleepover at a friends house. They seem so grown up these days. My son, who was born twelve weeks early and was so tiny is now a 6'2" 12 year old boy. He has no health problems to speak of, and my moments spent with him are cherished. I wish I could just hold on to those moments because time is slipping by too quickly. Too soon I will look, and he will be a man, but for today he is still my "little" boy. He rubs one of my ankles and lower leg several times a week because it helps to keep the muscles loose. He loves his mama so much, and I treasure those little moments...

My little sweetie pie, who is 8 years old, loves to watch "Full House". It's so cute because that was popular when I was growing up. I love it when she comes to tell me all about the episodes. She nearly has a photogenic memory, and she can tell you everything that happened. She is so animated and expressive, and I love to watch her during these moments...

My husband does little things for me all the time. There are too many things to name here about how special he makes me feel. I love to sneak moments when no one knows I'm looking and see him being a great hands on Dad with the kids. We homeschool, and he is always in the middle of their projects. I love to listen to him sleep. His breathing gives me comfort. It relaxes me. Those moments when he kisses me just because, and tells me he loves. Those are the moments that last a lifetime...

I enjoyed thinking back on these special moments and sharing them with you. It's been a great moment...

March 14, 2014: Have you ever seen a ghost? Do you believe in ghosts? Why or why not?

Let me preface the response to this prompt by stating that I am perfectly normal and not crazy. Now that I've qualified my answer, here it is.

I have lived in not one, but two different houses that were definitely haunted. In both homes, I was not the only one who saw shadows, heard noises, and glimpsed at apparitions.

The first time I believed I was living in a haunted house was when I was sixteen. We had moved into an old farmhouse that had stood vacant for a few years. My parents went in and did some remodeling beforehand, and made it into a cozy home. At first we just heard creaking upstairs or in rooms where no one was walking around. After living in the house for over six months, we uncovered a room upstairs. It didn't have a doorway. It was boarded up to look like part of the wall. After opening that room, several members of my family reported unexplained incidents. My mother, who is quite sensible and practical, was walking up the stairs one day when someone or something smacked her on the butt hard enough to make her think it was my Dad. However, my Dad was outside, and could not have sneaked up behind her without her knowing it. A couple years later, my brother got married and his wife was pregnant. We traded rooms so he was downstairs and I was upstairs. He warned me before I moved up there, but I had not had any experiences yet. Hah! That changed quickly. You see apparently, this ghost like to steal and misplace our items. It was so crazy.

Many, many years later, I moved into a newer home. In fact, it was only five years old when we moved in. I was married by this time, and this was the first home that my husband and I bought together. We would hear huge crashing noises with no explanations. We would see shadows. We felt things that we couldn't explain. We ended up living in that home for over seven years, and I could probably fill up an entire book with our experiences. I have no doubt that something paranormal was living in that house.

Later, my husband and I moved to the coast of South Carolina, USA, and my brother, his wife, and three boys moved into the same house we were living in. They were renting it from us. Though we had said very little about our experiences in the past, my sister in law called me and started to ask me questions about noises, shadows, touches, etc. This verified that we were not the only people experiencing issues there. One time she called me and told me she had seen a little boy. At first she thought it was one of her children, but as she turned and looked at him, he disappeared into thin air. That one gave me the creeps a little bit.

So, though I have never seen a full on apparition, I have had enough experience to know there is something out there!

March 5: You get to spend one hour with any person you choose - living or dead. Who is it? What do you talk about? What do you hope to learn from them?

I have thought about this question before, but I never had an opportunity to write about it. I have no doubt in my mind who I would choose. Fortunately, I have his words, and his love letter, that I can read on a daily basis. And though I have the Bible, I still have many questions. I know Jesus came to pay for my sin debt, and I have a personal relationship with him. I can read his word and pray to him, but I can't wait until the day I can see him face to face. Until then, "I Can Only Imagine". So, here is a list of interview type questions that I have for the Lord...

1. Where did Cain get a wife, and was it his sister?

2. What are the apparitions that we call ghosts? Are they demons? Or are they spirits of actual dead people?

3. What do people see when UFO's or alien abductions are reported?

There are several other people from the Bible that I would like to chat with.

Peter ~ How did it feel the day the jail walls fell down around you, and you were free?

Blind Man ~ How did it feel the day Jesus caused you to see?

Deaf Man ~ What was it like to hear Jesus for the first time?

Peter, John, Mary ~ What were you thinking when the Angel appeared at the tomb and told you that Jesus had risen?

There are many others that I will have all eternity to talk with. However, the first thing I want to do is worship my Savior!!! I may ask the Lord these questions, or I may do as the song says...

When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus?
Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing, Hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine

Prompt March 3, 2014: Tell us about the last thing you got excited about butterflies-in-the-stomach, giggling, cant-wait excited.

This prompt really got me to thinking. I am an easy person to make happy. My kids bringing me a handmade card or telling me they love me never fails to give me tingle. My little dogs attacking me with love and kisses in the morning because they just can't wait to see me gives a great feeling of joy. Every time my husband leans in to give a kiss, I still get giddy and feel butterflies in my tummy. I won't go into the extra detail on that one about giggling and "can't wait" excited. *Smirk* But we are married, so that's okay. *Bigsmile*

However, the times I become the most excited is when I'm reading my Bible and God decides to show me a nugget of gold. I can't wait to share it with others around me.

I find joy and excitement in many things in my life. However, the most exciting days of my life are as follows:
*Bookopen* The day I entered into a personal relationship with Jesus.
*Ringsgold* The day I married my hubby.
*Babyboy* The day I received my son, and then again the day his adoption was final.
*Babygirl* The day I received my daughter, and then again the day her adoption was final.

I find an abundance of inspiration in these events for my poetry and stories. Maybe a great event in your life will inspire your writing as well!

For the past week, writing has seemingly become more and more a chore for me. Now this could be because my iron and vitamin D are extremely low, or it could be because depression is trying to ensnare me along with overwhelming anxiety. The later two are definitely caused by the first two. However, no matter the case, writing has been my outlet in the past. For some reason, this week it has felt like a chore. My good friend Fi and I do free write sometimes to get the creative juices flowing, but even that eludes me at the moment. Maybe Angelica, the poetry pixie, has went on vacation. Regardless of the problem, I have writing projects that I had planned to do for contests. I have one poem that I must get done, and can find no inspiration.

So, I have decided to have a party... Yes, that's right, a party! I will allow myself to have a 24 hour pity party, and then I will pick myself up, and tell Angelica to get back home. *Rolleyes*

I'm doing the "Give It 100! and have vowed to write for 100 days in a row. Could have just tapped out all my creativity? One day this week, I couldn't think of much to write about, so I wrote about writers tools, ie: thesaurus.com, rhymezone.com, and picture prompts. Oh, on the night I had my first panic attack in a while, I wrote "Invalid Item. It's condensed and to the point. It shows exactly everything I feel when I'm having one. If you don't have these, read it and maybe you can relate.

Alright, don't send me a bunch of cNotes or anything. Once my D comes up, I'll feel better. Maybe whisper a prayer for me not to have any more anxiety attacks. Three nights in a row has been enough.

So, this is my writing for today with only 50 minutes to spare. *Rolleyes*

When I went to the chiropractor today I weighed, and *Balloon4* I have lost 8 lbs *Balloon4* since the beginning of the year. I have a big goal that I am working to get to by mid-summer, but I have to live it one day at a time.

I was also thinking about the slight changes we have been making at home. My hubby is a diabetic, and for awhile he just ignored the face. I think it caught up to him and gave him a scare. He is only 42, and I am not prepared to lose him at such a young age.

So, the whole family has been doing things different. We are trying to get more active as a family, and eat healthier as a family. It makes a huge difference rather than trying to do it by yourself. I also have a great support system outside of home. My best girlfriends are all routing for me and sending me inspirational and praise texts. My whole chiropractors office is like a group of cheerleaders. I'm bound to do it before I can no longer walk because of my knees.

Well, I wanted to stop and think of the positive changes instead of the negative. I gave up soda, which was a negative on the taste buds, but a positive for the bod. I'm going to share a list of "Healthy Words" that we could use in a story, article, or poem. If you would like to add any, please feel free to comment. and as usual, if this some how inspires you, please leave a link back to what you wrote.

Recently a friend of mine, Fi talked about how she didn't have a lot of time to write one day, but she had committed to doing it through the Give It 100 challenge that she is running. I loved the poem that she came up with even though she didn't spend hours composing it. Many times authors get their best ideas just by free writing. It can make no sense. It doesn't have to have perfect grammar. The punctuation doesn't have to follow all the rules. You are just writing, writing, writing. So here goes my free write. Hopefully later we will all see some great poems or stories come out of this.

I'm watching Treemasters, and every time I see it, I dream of another world that happens in the trees. This one is built up in the redwoods and they are using pieces from the limbs they cut off in order to make the railing of the porch. It is so beautiful and organic. Can you see a pixie, fairie or wood nymph living there?

*Stop* I am correcting myself too much... Now to start again

A beautiful home to look out over the woodlands. Maybe it's the queen of fairies or the king of wood nymphs. Maybe they are married, and this is their royal home. This is where all their adventures start. I wonder if their children are the pixies? You know the ones that help change the seasons. I have a poetry pixie as my muse. Maybe she can tell me all about her mother. Although she doesn't help change the seasons because she is too busy helping me write and giving me great ideas. All of those great ideas come from her adventures as a child. I wonder what my poetry pixie's childhood was like. What kind of mischief did she get in. I know she was mischievious because she is now. She is all the time stealing my pencils! That's okay thoughj because I don't usually use a pencil. I just type and type. I only need my mouse. I hope she doesn't read this because then she will start to hide that. And I lose it enough all by myself. I usually knock it off the side table when I'm sleeping. I end up dreaming I'm falling or jumping, and then knock it or throw it across the room. I wonder what I'm falling off of. I don't know because I have a huge phobia about falling. I won't do anything if I think I'm going to fall. It's gotten worse with age. Now that I have Fibromyalgia, it puts me down for awhile, so I especially avoid it. I actually had a dream last night that I was on a trampoline. Now that will be the day. If you could see me, you would know that I cannot jump on a trampoline with my artificial knee and my short round body, that would be a site.....

*Stop* That was more than five solid minutes of just writing down my thoughts. There is no rhyme or reason, but rather just a progression of thoughts. Now you try it, and link back here if you post it in your port!

Soon it will be that time of year when we think about love or loneliness. You know what I'm talking about. My favorite, but others dread Valentines day. I think it's particularly my favorite because I've always loved and collected hearts. In fact, in my jewelry designs, most of my drawings incorporate a heart in some way. However, I realize there are many more words and images that are related to Valentine's Day. So, today's list is going to give you a jump start on this lover's holiday. In the meantime, you may send a beautiful heart Valentine signature to friends on WDC by visiting "Invalid Item. Or, buy some Valentine raffle tickets at "Invalid Item. Then, if all that is not enough, you may want to join our "Invalid Item. I told you I like Valentines Day! *Bigsmile*

It's a new year full of new possibilities. I was thinking of all the fun things that make New Year's Eve and Day significant in various cultures. For example: In South Carolina, USA, a traditional meal that is said to bring good luck is Fried Collard Greens and Black Eyed Peas. You can ideally add any meat to this. Okay, so I'm what they call a transplant. I can do some greens, but collards are just not one of them. Don't even get me started on peas or beans. Blah! So in my house, our New Year's Day meal usually consists of pizza. I was talking with some other ladies today about New Year food traditions. One lady said she heard about a country that has the tradition of eating twelve grapes at midnight. Interesting! I might actually get ambitious and look that one up.

Along with food traditions, there are many other things that are common in the US New Year celebrations. Of course, there is the huge celebration in Times Square in New York City every New Years Eve. More than a million people will crowd around just to watch the ball drop and kiss their lover at midnight. Personally, I'm content to watch it on the television. I still have my hubby right here close to me, and I don't have to freeze my tail off in the process.

This also is a fun time for watching fireworks. All of our neighbors buy them, so we can gladly save our money. We just sit out on the porch while they shoot them off. They can blow up over $100 in less than a half hour.

On New Years Day, we sit around watching the Parade of Roses which is followed by the Rose Bowl Football game. You cannot have a fall or winter holiday without football. *Rolleyes* And yes I like football. I just think we could have games other than on holidays.

Okay, I'm done being snarky about some of the traditions. I actually love the holidays, but wish to spend them sober, not broke, and eating things I love. I also like sitting around playing games with my family and creating memories. How do you celebrate the New Year? Are there special traditions that you enjoy? I promise not to roll my eyes or make a rude comment. *Laugh* In the meantime, here is a list of New Year words to inspire us.
