Talking about life and turning it into ideas for stories and poems.
It was LostGhost: Seeking & Learning that inspired me to start a BLOG/PLOG. I constantly have ideas flooding my mind, at least most of the time. However, sometimes I'm like anyone else and suffer from the dreaded writers block. When that happens, I can come back here to a journal of interesting topics and lists of words fit to inspire the worst best poet.

Please join me as I blog about life and plog about poetry. It's all combined into one for your inspirational needs. Feel free to use anything as inspiration for yourself. Settle in and stay awhile. Visit with Angelica. Maybe she'll be as demanding awesome with you as she is with me!

My Muse

My muse is a poetry pixie dressed in pink
Yes, from her inspiring potions I plan to drink
Many nights she whispers words of inspiration
Until one night I need her and she leaves me in frustration
She is a clever little imp, full of spice and sugar
Even with her attitude, I’ll keep the little bugger

I have challenged myself to go back to some of my poetry written in the spring and early summer to see if it needs revising. Now I know what you are thinking. Poetry comes from within the soul and once on paper is awesome and wonderful. Well, yes, at least the idea that is there is awesome and wonderful. However, our poetry can always be tweaked in some way. Think about those reviews that you have received. Is there a common theme among them? Could you use stronger words to convey your theme? Can you make sure the syllable count is consistent? See my example here:

Original - The Black Widow

A spider am I and I cause much pain.
A black widow am I and I am not ashamed.
My bite like a blade will cut through your skin.
Then my poison will spread like a red hot sin.

The hourglass shape on my back like a window
Let’s you see through to the heart of this widow.
So with the candle wax burning bright
Watch where you’re going on this eerie night

I am the black widow and I am here to be sure.
Through this creepy black night will you endure?
I have shielded myself. I’m a sneaky beast.
To drink your blood would be a marvelous feast.

Heed my warning I have given this night.
I’m the black widow and I’m here to give fright.
Do not ignore this message I send.
Or on this night your life will end.

Revised - The Black Widow

I am a spider and I cause much pain.
I’m a black widow and I want your vein.
My bite like a blade will cut through your skin.
My poison will spread like a red hot sin.

The hourglass on my back like a window,
let’s you see to the heart of this widow.
At dark the candle wax is burning bright.
Watch where you’re going on this eerie night

I’ve shielded myself; I’m a sneaky beast.
Drinking your blood would be a scrumptious feast.
Through this creepy black night will you endure;
considering that my bite has no cure?

On this ominous night, heed my warning.
Or tomorrow, your friends will be mourning.

Which version sounds stronger to you? It could be that I need to edit further. Whatever I do, though, I'm still the creator, and I'm still the writer. Revising doesn't mean that you destroy your creative work, it just means that you are learning and evolving! I would love for you to share your revisions with me any time for either a review or just to comment on.

You may think that these two ideas don't go together, but indeed they do. I have a hard time sleeping at night, and then during the day, I can barely stay awake. It's a vicious circle and one that makes me crazy. Another day I am going to start an entry on Chronic Pain. A lot of poetry has come from my dealings with Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Sjogrens/Arthritis. Fatigue is only one aspect, but one that frustrates me greatly. If you have issues with anything I write about, feel free to use some of the descriptions, etc that I give. If you do, please leave a comment with the link. I would love to read it!

Feelings
Worthlessness
Hindering life
Anger
Wistfulness
Frustration

Thoughts
I miss spending time with my family
Do my kids suffer because of this?
What can I do to help me get on a better schedule?

I wake up in the morning
and what do I find?
The world has turned pink,
or is it just my mind?

******************************

Fish of amber, oh so rare,
swimming in the bowl right there.
You’re tempting me

*******************************

I am but a humble miner
who made a great discovery.
In the cave I chipped the liner,
and now there’s no recovery.

This world of enchantment I found
with fire that burned a bright blue.
This crazy place all underground
was a different rainbow of hues.

I've been playing around with the idea of creating various legacies. I looked up some the definition and some synonyms, but I can't seem to get much further.

Legacy
bequest, birthright, devise, endowment, estate, gift, heirloom, throwback, tradition
inheritance, heritage
anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor:
something handed down or received from an ancestor or predecessor

Who will I leave my legacy too?
My children
My nieces and nephews
Young people in the church

What kind of legacy will I leave?
Teachings from God's Word
My testimony
Strong character
Respectful attitude

I think that sometimes to be a good poet, you must have lived through some things. Actually, I think in order to be a good writer, you need the same qualification. Anyway, I have two different autoimmune disorders, and of course, that causes some depression. I hate it when I feel so rotten, but what's even worse is that I take it out on my family. Here are some of my thoughts I've started, but just can't get finished. Maybe something will come when I see it down here and separate.

Father, I’m in a grumpy mood.
I want to frown, and fume, and brood.
I want it quiet, I want to sleep.
Next thing I know I want to weep.

I treat my family without respect.
They bother me. What do they expect?

Father, I’m sorry I’m in a mood.
I hate to frown, fume, and brood.
I want to laugh with my family today.
I want to go out with them and play.

Since I live so close to the ocean, it is often my inspiration for poetry. I have a picture that my husband took on an overcast day, and the picture has inspired more than one poem. I thought that I would try to describe the scene with various senses and emotions. From here, I can get a multitude of ideas!

What do I see?

Light clouds
Dark clouds
Gray ocean water
Brown grey sand
White shining through

What emotions do I feel?

I feel at peace
I feel calm
I feel anticipation
I feel quietness

What other descriptive words can I use?
Vast
Blue
Sky
Ocean
Clouds
Waves

Questions about the scene?

Is it going to storm?
Are there sharks close by?
Will the sun shine through?
