The world is changing. Or are you the one who has changed?
[Introduction]
Blink

The Plot
The world is changing.

Or, are you changing?

It began with a certain sensation; or, maybe it began with a dream. Maybe you suddenly found yourself "knowing" what others were thinking, feeling, or what might happen to them. Perhaps you "heard" ...a voice, a guide, or something you can't explain. Or maybe, one night, you caught a glimpse of the other side. However it came to you, it can't be undone.

You are not alone.

Most people around you will not understand, but there are those who are changing with you. And, there are those on the other side who are guiding you.

What comes next for humanity? For you?
What is your purpose?
Why have things changed?

These are the questions that you might be seeking to answer as we begin this journey.

Name: Melina
Your age: 26
Your gender: Female
Physical Description of You: Average height and build; rather pale; long, dark brown hair; grey-blue eyes

A brief summary of your life to this point:
Melina was born to a typical middle-class family and was raised in a Christian church. She left the church when she left for college and had not given much thought to spirituality or anything to do with the spirit realm for years. Melina's family experienced many lows during her college years, and to get by, Melina turned to alcohol. She entered a deep depression and found herself at her very lowest low when she began to experience unnerving changes.

It took her a few years, but she has been fully embracing these changes now for 3 years. Under the guidance and support of her primary guide, Nicholas, she was able to begin to grow in her abilities privately and leave behind the dangerous lifestyle she had once embraced.

Nobody knows about Melina's abilities. She lives alone and is finally beginning to learn her purpose in this life.

How you have begun to change:
The change for Melina began with her dreams. She began to have vivid and chaotic dreams that progressed into out-of-body experiences. She eventually encountered her guide, Nicholas, through dreams, out-of-body experiences, and a sort of "inner-eye" communication. That is when she began to learn more about her abilities.

She receives messages through dreams and is able to communicate with her guide as well as others' guides in the spirit realm. Through this communication, she is often able to "know" things about the people she meets, including whether or not they are trustworthy.

A description of your Spirit Guides:
Nicholas is a protective human spirit guide on the other side with dominant healing energy. He has been described as quite tall with blonde hair and ice-blue eyes. He is quiet but quick to act and rarely backs down to anyone.

Melina also has other guides, but she has not made contact with them as completely as she has with Nicholas.
A Non-Existent User
Your name: Ami
Your age: 29
Your gender: Female
A Physical Description of Your Character: Tall and slender, of light to medium skin tone with long black hair and dark eyes.

A brief summary of your life to this point:
I have lived a quiet and simple life for the most part and I wouldn't describe it as anything out of the ordinary. Growing up I was always a bit of a loner and my parents were a often distant, but I always had the love of my older sister. She has made life a lot easier for me and I love her dearly, but outside of that relationship there was very little that I held onto.

I live life inside of my head, perhaps less so now than then, but you can still catch me gazing off to who knows where from time to time. In the back of my mind I have often had the vague impression that I don’t quite fit in, but I never seriously questioned why that was. It could be that my family was pretty religious (or at least pretended to be) and I never quite got along with it, or maybe it has been the difficulty I've had making friends or a million other tiny things. Whatever it is, or whatever it was I have often wanted to escape, though I have never quite been sure where to go.

How you have begun to change:
Changes. As I said, I have always felt a bit apart and I coped with this a lot through daydreams and fantasies. There were many times when I would be in bed and I would see a flash or think a thought and go, “Oh! It is a spirit here to protect me!” and make up little stories, but I always thought of them as just daydreams, as I had been told that in no way could they ever be real. Yet, one day, somehow, that which I had only thought of as a daydream began to become all the more persistent, all the more real. I would dream of other worlds and places, other versions of myself and it would always feel as if I had been there before. There were times where I would dream of things that had not happened yet, things that ended up actually happening. The more I felt, the more I believed, the more I believed the more I felt. I still feel like a bit of an alien in a strange place, but I think that is quite all right.

A description of your Spirit Guides:
I have had many spirits come and go, but over the years there has been one image that has remained. She takes several forms, but when I first saw her she was a fox, nimble, lithe and alive with radiant light. She is mostly quiet, but always comforting and has been known to ask questions of me to further help open my mind.
A familiar sensation crept up Melina’s skin, building ever gradually. There was the terror, and she recognized it for what it was, not letting it ruin the moment. She relaxed and let the vibrations overcome her, felt her pulse race and pound, felt one body shift while the other remained still… and, in a moment, she felt the lift, and she gasped in relief. She opened her eyes as she floated out of her own body. The sensation of leaving it was marvelous…beyond anything she could feel while still in it. Immediately, she felt his presence; Nicholas was always there, of course, but she was never closer to him than when she left her body. The moments were far too brief, however. As soon as she tried to find him, she crashed back into her body with a jolt.

Melina sat up in bed, disappointed. She admonished herself for trying to control the experience; whenever she did this, it ended all too suddenly. She sighed and lay back down. It wouldn’t happen again tonight; it might be weeks or months before it happened again. Frustrated, she flipped her side and forced her eyes shut. How she wished she could project at will! She felt so out of place in her skin these days. Indeed, she felt so out of place in this world at all. As if her entire self were crammed into a thick glove that muted all sensation.

“Please,” she whispered…”let me have another one tomorrow…please."
Name: Henry Alphonse

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Physical Description: Henry has dark blue hair that's spiked in such a way that it looks as though it's made out of many icicle shards. He has a light-average build, white skin color, is about 5' 2", And his eyes are an icy green color.

How did you get here?: Henry has had a harsh childhood. His father's side of the family was Japanese, while his mother's side was American. While his father was always busy with business meetings and working from the ground up to provide food for his wife and Henry, his mom was doing her best to care for Henry as all mothers should always do. But after Henry's father lost his life in a plane crash due to a malfunction on his way to Japan to score an important business deal that would set him and his family up for life, Henry's mom started developing suicidal tendencies in the hopes that she could be with her husband once again. This ended up costing her her life as well a few years later. Now without anyone to take care of Henry at the young, yet slowly maturing age of sixteen, he was taken under child services, while he waited for another family to fill the void in his broken heart. Sadly, that day never came for dear Henry.

Years passed, and at the age of twenty, Henry set out to start his own life, while trying his best to help anyone who needed it in whatever way he could provide.

By age twenty-three, he started taking classes for massage therapy. And by age twenty-four to present, he's been working at a massage parlor, where he continues to sharpen his skills at making people feel more relaxed, and less unhappy about their own problems.

How you have begun to change?: -Author note- I plan on explaining how my Character begins to change once i start my first real chapter.

A description of your Spirit Guides: No info at this time.
Your name: Hanamura Daichi

Your age: 46 years old

Your gender: Male

A Physical Description of Your Character: Daichi is 5’7 ft tall and weighs 43 pounds. He has short black straight hair and brown eyes. He likes wearing robes and loose clothes. His body is brawny.

A brief summary of your life to this point: Daichi was born in a conservative family, having three sisters, but his home was in a very bad neighborhood. Most of his childhood, he spent in petty acts of violence and vandalism, since he was a member of a gang. His family lost bit by bit all respect for him, until the day he turned 14 and his father kicked him out. Since then he never returned to his family. Daichi lived the next two years around friends and other members of his gang. When he became 16 things became more dangerous as he was climbing the ladder, and the cops started to tail him. After the death of a very good friend and partner of his everything changed.
How you have begun to change: Seeing his friend’s death he understood how pointless everything he did and desired was. That day his third eye opened allowing him to see everything around him clearly, from a different perspective than everyone else. At first he could only see through walls, through people and farther than a normal person. As if he had ex-ray vision. With time and the help of a mysterious spirit that frequently visited him, he learned to control that ability and even improve it to the point where he could find objects and people through meditation.

A description of your Spirit Guides: The spirit is a 2ft tall Japanese monk. He is always sitting in a seiza style, his entire body covered in eyes. He’s never told Daichi his name.
Kiri
Age 25
Female

A Physical Description of Your Character: Tall, pale white skin, short brown hair (pixie cut) spiked, hazel eyes that are mostly a deep green with a bright ring of gold around the iris

A brief summary of your life to this point. How did you get here?: Kiri knows very little about where she comes from. Her earliest memories are of living in a group foster home as a young child. She was not well-accepted; the other children all thought she was very strange and somewhat scary. The adults felt similarly; she was sent to many doctors and psychiatrists who tried to "fix" her. After leaving the group home, she bounced from foster home to foster home until age 15, when she finally ran away from home and struck out on her own.

Though she spent the bulk of her childhood lonely and confused over who she was, she soon found a community of fellow "outcasts" on the streets, including many others like her who had been presumed "crazy" due to their awareness and sensitivity of the spiritual realm. Due to her intelligence and ability to "read" the people around her, she found herself quickly able to fit in and even gain status in her new group of street dwellers. She is very devoted to them and they to her.

How you have begun to change: There was no change for Kiri; she has always been this way for as long as she could remember. The spiritual realm is as obvious and accessible to her as the physical. It is absolutely normal for her to sense another person in danger or needing aide. She also occasionally sees the future, though it is flexible and fluctuates quickly. More than anything else, she is deeply aware of the connectedness -- the connection and love -- between herself and all living things. She lives in full awareness of this connection and holds it to be the most important element of her existence. She is determined to find and bring together others like herself who have awoken to the spiritual reality.

A description of your Spirit Guides: Kiri has and knows her spirit guides very well, but will not reveal them at this time.
Name: Alex Smith

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Physical Description: 5'7, 210 pounds. Average complexion (Caucasian). Short red hair and green/grey eyes.
Summary of my life: Some things can never be taught, only learned. Like the real feelings one goes through when one's parents split up. Looking back on it now there where many other things I could have done, but you can't really think straight at age 10 when that happens.

When my parents divorced, my world crumbled. Between their fighting and insulting of each other to me behind the other's back, I felt that no one loved me. It was only them and their fight that mattered, I was just the thing that reminded them of their anger. after they split up I went to live with my mom. I became depressed and withdrew into myself.

Then I turned 16, and I began to learn how to take care of myself, and other 'things'. I studied hard at school and by 18 I graduated in the top 5 of my senior year. I spent a few years studying psychology and dream science and then joined a lab run by one of my Professors, Dr. Jethro Samson. I now work as Dr. Samson's assistant as we study and try to cure dream related mental illness. Samson is the only person I've shared the secret of my powers with.
The Changes and my Powers: At 15 the dreams started. Every night a monster would chase me through the forest, and yell insults at me. "It's your fault." "They blame you." "You should die!" Every night it would get closer but I'd always wake up before I saw anything. And each day, I'd change a little more. Anger, hatred, and vengeance. I wanted to hurt something, someone just to make me feel better. But at the same time, I thought that those feelings weren't my. Like they came from somewhere else.

It finally happened. On day in school I was so tired from the horrific dreams that I just passed out in the lunchroom. When I opened my eyes, I wasn't in the lunchroom but the forest...And my friends weren't the ones standing over me. It was frightening, a horned shadow at least twice my size with empty red eyes and a hungry smile showing shark-like teeth. I was paralyzed with fear as it moved closer, its ice cold breath chilled me to the bone. I didn't know how at the time but I could feel its desire, it wanted to eat me, and take me body. It would use me to attack others and find its next victim. I could only look into its eyes and wait for the end.

Then, she appeared. A hand touched my arm. Looking over I saw a 30 something woman with long sapphire hair tied in pony tail and ruby eyes. She was more beautiful the any woman I'd ever seen. She only smiled at me and looked down. I followed her glance to a sword that had suddenly appeared in my hand. The monster hissed in anger. It was threatened by the woman. And as I held the weapons I knew what to do.

The beast stepped back and tried to run. But I was faster now. With one swipe I cleaved it in 2 and watched as it fell to the ground. It began to dissolve and as it vanished, I felt better. Happier and stronger. But also, sadder. All of my emotions about my family and my own guilty and blame rushed to me all at once. I dropped the sword and fell to the ground crying. I couldn't stop and I didn't want to. After a few seconds I felt a pair of arms hold me. Looking up I saw the woman hugging me close and smiling as she whispered to me, "It's ok now. Let it all out. Here, I am the only who can hear."

I'll never know how long I cried, and part of me doesn't want to. But I got better and woke up to the real world again. That night, the woman came back in the real world and introduced herself as Sara. She was there to help me. I had the power to enter and control dreams. She was there to teach me to control and use my powers to help others and fight monster like the one that had invaded my mind. I learned quick and was able to become almost god like in dreams. I could do anything, and my only limits were my own imagination. I could enter other people's dreams and by doing so learn everything about them. In their dreams their minds where laid bare for me.

My Spirit Guide(s): Sara is a 30 year old looking woman with sapphire blue hair and ruby red eyes. She is 6 ft and quite friendly. Sara is a teacher, friend, and sister-like to me. She'll help me whenever I call but she also enjoys teasing me like a real big sister.

Sara has the same powers as me but considerably weaker. She is a spirit and can only be seen when she wants to be. Sara prefers to only come out at night but shares a kind of link with me. I can hear her talk in my mind when she is out of sight for whatever reason. I'm not sure if its a link or if she just lives in my mind...Creepy to think about sometimes. I don't know much beyond that. Sara doesn't talk about herself much and when I ask she usually deflects the questions.
The chill winter wind bit a Melina's face, and she tucked her chin down in her knit scarf to try and contain the warmth of her breath. Her brow furrowed; she hated the days when work required that she travel into the city. She disliked walking through this part of the city; in fact, she disliked going into the city at all. The city overwhelmed her in ways that were nearly impossible to describe. She'd grown used to the influx of emotions and chaotic feelings she would sometimes encounter around large groups of people, but that didn't mean it was comfortable. When she went into the city, she always felt too much until her senses went numb as if overloaded to the point of breaking. The burn out had come hours ago, and now she was just exhausted. Despite the cold, sweat dampened the back of her blouse.

Melina jammed her hands in her coat pockets, moving as quickly and silently as she could down the sidewalk. "No eye contact. Don't look. Keep walking," she told herself as she moved. "Ignore the rush of anger; pay no attention to the fear; move past that ache of sorrow," she filtered each new emotion in and out as quickly as she could -- wishing for quiet so she could find her own mind again.

She turned a corner and her breath caught in her throat. The alley in front of her was empty, secluded...and there was absolutely no other way to get back to the bus stop that would take her home. Something about it made her uneasy... more than uneasy, she was truly afraid.

She glanced around, but the alley seemed empty enough. She took a few steps forward and felt the familiar alarm that warned her of danger -- the absolute awareness as if her guides were physically taking hold of her and trying to scream into her ear. In her mind's eye, she caught a flash of something bright and brilliant, and she felt almost a physical sensation of someone on the other side stepping in front of her, blocking her. She felt a rush of spiritual alarm and strength...and then the crush of a hand on her upper arm...a solid, physical hand... and a rough yank that pulled her further into the quiet alleyway.
I still remember that day. That day started out like every other day before it. That day, i did everything that i normally did. I got out of bed, took a shower, brushed my teeth, got dressed, styled my hair, ate breakfast, and walked out the door at 8:15 AM. I walked down the sidewalk to work like i normally did. Took the same path, and made it at the same time i normally did. 8:45 AM. Leaving me with fifteen minutes before the shop opened. No one else was around but me at the time. So i decided to make an inventory check to kill what little time i had left before we had to open shop. Then, the clock hit 9:00 AM. But there was still no one else around. Which was strange. Most of the time, there was always at least another hand keeping an eye on the shop before i arrived. Was it a holiday? Did someone die? Whatever the reason, it sure was quiet. Two hours later. Now 11:15 AM. And still no sign of anyone. No customers, no employes. Not even a mouse entered the store. Even that would have made today a little more lively. Then, just before noon, the front door opened, and in walked a woman who looked to be about in her early 30's. She was wearing a black leather jacket with a sky blue shirt underneath, and normal jeans. She also wore black high heels, and had her blond hair all in curls. Her she also had green eyes and kept touching her eyeballs. No doubt she was using contacts and they were moving all over the place. She walked up to the desk where i was and said...

"Hey kid. I need a full body massage. My whole body is killing me right now and i can't stand it." The woman seemed to be distracted by something. The way she kept looking out the windows and back to me. I just gave her a smile and replied...

"Sure thing miss. If you'll just follow me please." I showed her the way to one of our back rooms.

"If you'll get changed in here, i need to go get some things ready before we can begin." The woman walked inside and i closed the door to give her some privacy. Then i made my way to the front door, locked it, and put up the sign that said out for lunch so that no one would try to steal anything while i was away. Then i walked back to the back room and waited for the woman to finish changing.

"Are you finished miss?"

"Yeah. Come in." Then i opened the door and saw her laying on the bed in the center of the room. Nothing fancy. Just a hospital bed we bought off of a doctor a few years back. We had the handrails removed and made some other modifications as well. As i walked up to her, i saw the back of her head. Then i moved my eyes down her long backside right down to her...okay. So i closed my eyes when i reached that part of her body. And opened them once i was sure i was passed that part of her body. Then i saw her long, slender legs. Right down to her feet. Which had on the most beautiful shade of red nail polish I've even seen.

"So, you gonna start on me kid? Or do you enjoy looking at your costumers asses?" That brought me out of my trance. Even though often times i find myself looking at my costumers body's for a little bit before i start working on them, it's never for whatever reason this woman thinks it is. It's just so i can understand what parts of her need the most work done and what i can do to help her. In any case, it does look like she needs the works. So i got started and pressed down on her mid back with both hands. Only for the woman to cry out in pain.

"Are you alright?"

"No I'm not! What the fuck kid?! It feels like you stabbed me with a knife. Watch it!"

"I understand miss. I'm sorry." Although i didn't even do anything to her yet, she really looked like she was in absolute pain when i touched her there. Guess i won't be working there anytime soon. Then i moved up to her shoulders. She didn't react like she did when i touched her last time, though she was moaning in pain still. Whatever she did to herself, or whatever happened to her, it must've put a lot of strain on her body. Her body felt like a train wreck so far. And i haven't even started down on her lower body yet. Then i felt something. Almost like some static electricity just got sent through my brain. I stopped for a second, then i worked my way down her back again. This got me a hiss out of her. So i lifted my hands up and over her rear, and onto her legs. As soon as i touched her right leg, it jumped up a little. Knocking my hand loose. Startled, i waited for her leg to settle down before i started again. As i rubbed her legs, i could feel that static shock feeling again. Whatever was going on with me, i needed to get it checked out after i was done here. Then i made my way down to her feet. I got down on my knees and grabbed her right foot, only for it kick me right in the face. As i fell to the floor holding my nose, i felt like i was going to pass out from being kicked so hard. Then i looked to my left side and saw her walking right over to me. At first i thought she got up worried that she kicked me too hard. Which i would've been right about if it was for that reason. But as i looked up to her face, something was off about her. Her eye's...they looked like she was out of it. Like she was in some kind of trance. They were empty and colorless. And full of what looked like a mix of rage and pleasure. Then she lifted her right leg over my face and smashed it down on my nose again. Causing it to bleed out under her feet.

"Yeah. You like that. Don't you tough guy? You enjoy messing with my feet and legs and back. My whole body for that matter. Don't ya? Well go right ahead. Worship my feet while your down there. Go right ahead and lick out all the dirt, lint, and toe jam you can. And don't you dare stop until i tell you. Because now it's my turn to have my way with you." What the Hell was up with this woman?! It was as though she was Hell bent on making me her slave. She even looked like she was going to kill me. Feeling even more faint than before, i decided that i had no choice. Until i could understand what was wrong with her, i had to do as she said. With that said, i started licking her sole. It was horrible. It tasted like dirt was caked all over her foot, and i was forced to endure it. Then i felt that shock again. Only this time however, it made me jump up a bit. Causing the woman to lose her balance. As she tried to rebalance herself, her left foot slammed down on my groin. Causing me to cry out in overwhelming pain. I tried to lift her foot off of my face, but she was the one with power over me. Not the other way around. She lifted her right foot once again and slammed it down on my face again. This time, i felt my nose crack. And i screamed out in pain again as she twisted her foot on my face.

"You still don't understand. Do you Mike? It's my turn to have my way with you! Even if i have to kill you to enjoy myself, i will! SO DON'T YOU FORGET IT!!!" Then she lifted up her left foot and slammed it down on my groin again. And again, and again. She was going to turn me into a woman at this rate. My junk couldn't handle this kind of strain. Not only was she trashing my face, but my manhood as well. I felt like i was going to die here. Under the feet of a woman i was only trying to help feel better. There were still so many thing i wanted to do before i died. Settle down, have a wife and kids, grow old, and make as many people as i could happy along the way. And then there was Mike. Who was Mike? Was he the reason she was doing this to me? Was he the reason i was about to die today? I felt as though i would never know. Then, her foot raised above my face once more. And then.....darkness.
Kiri

"Kir, I got us some sandwiches," Lukas dropped down beside me on the street curb and thrust a cellophane-wrapped sandwich into my hand.

"Not hungry," I murmured. It was a lie; I was starving. But, food dulled my senses, and my whole being felt wired at the moment. I felt electric. Everything was sharp and clear, and I knew something was coming. I felt Lukas take the sandwich out of my hand and heard him frustratedly tearing the plastic from it. He thrust the open sandwich back into my hand.

"Eat." He demanded, and I knew by the tone of his voice that I was pissing him off. "It's been two days; you can't just starve every time you sense things. You'll never eat again."

I sighed and crammed a bite of the sandwich in my mouth. "Happy?" I mumbled, mouth full.

"Yes, actually." Lukas replied. I stuck my tongue out at him before taking another bite. As always, he was right. As frustrating as it was to feel the dull, muted feeling come over me thanks to the food, I knew I had to take care of the physical just as much as the spiritual.

The electric sensation coursing through me dulled to a gentle vibration as I finished the sandwich. I let out a sigh; the awareness of whatever was coming had all but gone away.

"Where'd you even get the money for those?" I asked Lukas. We'd all struggled to find even temporary jobs lately; lack of an address would do that to you. Lukas cracked a grin.

"I took a plow and road salting job for the winter. The hours suck, but the pay is pretty good actually."

"That's amazing!" I threw my arms around him. I knew he had been trying hard to find something to help us all get through the winter.

"Even better," Lukas said, "they said they'd hire a couple of the other guys as well."

This was pretty epic; it had been years since we'd had more than a couple people working in the group at one time. This was practically life changing.

I grabbed Lukas's hand, and we shared a smile. This group was my family; he was my family.

And then, my smile disappeared as a piercing, shrill, terrified shriek cut through my mind. It was a panicked psychic cry that hit me so hard that it temporarily blinded me. I felt Lukas's grip on my hand tighten, and I vaguely heard his muffled voice through the distortion of the noise. Slowly, my vision came back to me, my ears popped, and I gasped.

"Kir...Kiri...what is it?" Lukas had me by both shoulders now. My eyes fell from his face, and I looked over his shoulder. He turned his head, and we both looked into the darkened alley behind us. I knew whoever it was who had let out that terrible shriek was somewhere in there.

Without a second thought, I pulled away from Lukas and darted into the darkness.

Dreams are strange things. Our hopes, desires, and memories are reflected in them. My favorites are the dreams of kids. Kids are young, full of wonder and most of all, pure. They haven't grown up yet, felt the cruel weight of reality crush their dreams to replace them with cold logic. As a kid, we all felt anything was possible, I hope I can feel that way again some day. But, it works both ways. If their dreams are strong then so are their nightmares...

It was dark, completely pitch black. No light around and nothing made a sound...Except for the girl. She was young, around 7 or 8, sitting alone and crying in the cold darkness. Her black colored hair cover the sides of her face as she hugged her knees close. You can't just leave someone alone like that.

"Hey," I said calmly as I kneeled down close to her. "Are you ok?"

The girl's head shot up, and her eyes held nothing but terror as she looked at me. She started shaking. "No," she whispered her voice cracking, "please, don't hurt me."

"Its ok. I won't hurt you. I promise. I'm just here to talk. What's your name?" I smiled as friendly as I could.

She looked at me cautiously, but the fear was slowly leaving her eyes. "Mary."

"Hey, Mary. I'm Alex. What's wrong?"

"I'm alone and I think something's chasing me." Mary looked nervously at me.

"Oh, come on." I said smiling. "You're not alone. I'm here with you. Right?"

She was quiet for a minute or two then she did something amazing. She smiled up at me. "Yeah."

"Good girl." I said. "How about we go for a walk?"

'Ok." Mary stood up and held my hand as we walked.

It was important to move Mary now. Normally I would have her face her fears and recover from the fear, but things weren't normal. Many kids are scared of things chasing them, and with Mary that fear was justified. Even as we walked off, I could feel the creature staring at us, and it was hungry...
Before the scream building inside her could even escape Melina's lips, a rough hand clamped over her mouth. She felt herself dragged deeper into the dark alleyway, and she frantically began to twist and turn, attempting to escape the painful grip of whoever had hold of her; it was no use. Her pulse vibrated in her ears, and she reached up to begin clawing at the hand covering her mouth. Whoever it was, his or her grip never loosened.

Instead, Melina suddenly began to feel a heavy fatigue washing over her. Her limbs began to feel like they weighed more and more, and she slowly started to fall still. Numbness crept up her arms and legs, weighting her down. Nothingness came closer and closer.

"No..." she thought. "No, no, no..."

But even as she struggled to stay conscious, the darkness of the alley around her left her wondering if she was still conscious at all.

Suddenly, she felt cold concrete against her cheek, and feeling began to come back into her extremities. She blinked, unable to distinguish when exactly her eyes were closed versus when they were open. Then, she heard voices.

"Unacceptable...completely unacceptable, Jacob! This is not how we handle these things!"

"I had no choice. She doesn't even know her potential! She's completely unaware, and we need her. You don't understand!"

"Did you consider speaking to her instead of assaulting her?"

"She wouldn't have listened. I saw it! She would have run away."

"And what did you see would be the consequences of this course of action? Is she going to be your best friend now that you, a total stranger to her, have completely debilitated her?"

"I didn't....see...I just did what needed to be done."

Someone let out an exasperated groan, and Melina felt soft hands on her face. She tried to speak and call for help, but all that came out was a cough.

"Hey..." a gentle, female voice accompanied the hand, and Melina felt someone helping her to sit up. As she came upright again, she found herself finally able to see her surroundings. A girl close to her age was crouched down next to her. "I am Kiri. I'm here to help you. I'm so sorry..."

Melina clenched her hands into fists and opened them again, trying to get the feeling back.

"Good grief, Jacob, you didn't need to numb her! She's an average-sized girl, not an angry bear!"

"I told you - I did what I had to do."

"Excuse me," Melina cleared her throat, finally able to speak. "Could someone please tell me what is going on here?"

I slowly opened my eyes to new surroundings. Somehow, I was inside a living room area. From the looks of things, it was an apartment room. A lot of things were strewn everywhere. Then, the front door opened up, and in walked the same woman that almost killed me a second ago. Scared that she was going to try to kill me again, i closed my eyes and braced myself for a fight. Only nothing came. Then i slowly opened my eyes to she that she was right in front of me stripping down and out of her clothes. I held my hands over my face as i didn't feel right looking at her like this.

"That fucking Mike. I swear to God i hate him so much. I still don't understand why i married him. Granted he was rich at the time. But i never cared about the money. He was so kind before our trip to Vegas. So passionate." Then i could hear her moaning. I lifted my hands to see what was wrong, only to see that nothing was wrong. And that she was just fingering herself. Then i slammed my hand over my face once again and turned around. I felt myself blushing like crazy, and i could feel another nosebleed coming along. She kept moaning for a few minutes, then stopped as i heard a thud. I quickly turned around and opened my eyes to see her on the couch with her front side facing up. I turned around yet again, thinking why she wasn't saying anything to me. But i couldn't work up the courage to ask her why i was in her apartment to begin with. Then, i heard the door open again. Only this time more forcefully. Then i looked at a man standing in the doorway. But before i could get a good look at him, a dark cloud surrounded him and prevented me from seeing him. Then he walked up to us and said...

"What the Hell are you're doing Malissa? Are you starting the fun without me?" Then Malissa got up and replied...

"Don't worry Mike. I was going to stop when you got back anyway." So this...cloud of pitch black was Mike.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Mike said as Malissa walked over to a spiral staircase and started ascending it. Then Mike walked over to Malissa before she could get up the third step and yanked her down.

"Mike! Stop it! Let me go...now!" Malissa tried to escape his grasp, but he refused to let her go. Until she kneed him in the groin, then he let her go as she ran up the stairs. This only made Mike even more mad however, and he went up the stairs after her. I followed after him to try and stop him. But when i got to the top, i found myself looking at an empty bedroom.

"Where did they go?" Just then, i heard screaming coming from the stairs. I turned around and saw Mike holding Malissa by the throat halfway down the stairs. I rushed down and tried to grab Mike. But as i grasped the back of his head, i fell through both of them and rolled down the stairs. Now laying at the base of the stairs, i found myself feeling like i was going to pass out again. And sure enough, i found myself in darkness once again.
Kiri

I look down at the girl and sigh, running my fingers through my hair and sliding down the wall to sit beside her.

"Well, this is not how I usually like to introduce myself to others, but..." I look up at Jacob, and he won't meet my gaze. I sigh again and turn my full attention to the girl.

"My name is Kiri, and the idiot who just...well...attacked you...is Jacob." I shoot him a look. "We are...like you."

She looks at me with confusion and a hint of fear.

"What do you mean 'like me?'" she asks. "You don't even know me."

I give her a half smile and look down at my hands. "I know you better than you think I do. I know you're different...special. I know you're very well protected."

I hear her moving, and look up to see her scrambling to her feet. Jacob moves to grab her again, but I stand and grab him by the arm.

"No, Jake." I glare at him.

She's backing away from us, looking behind her and clearly ready to run.

"Look, I know you're scared," I say gently to her, "and you have every right to be. Jacob shouldn't have done what he did. But, we can help you. You don't have to be alone in this; there are others..."

But before I can finish my thought, she has taken off running.
Alex and Mary walked through the darkness in silence. The poor girl shuttered in fear as they walked, the cold darkness fueling her terror the deeper they went. After a few minutes they came to an area of twisted looking trees. Mary froze in place.

Through the branches of the evil plants, there appeared horrible glowing eyes. Eyes of every color and shape stared out at the girl. Ghostly sounds whispered out of the trees to her, causing Mary to whimper. She grabbed hold of Alex's arm and tried her best to hid behind it. However, just as fear almost took her, a soft voice reached her ears.

"The dark is really scary sometimes, isn't it?" Alex kneeled down and put his free hand on her back. She nodded silently, to afraid to form words.

"But its not going to hurt you. You're just scared because you can't see." Mary felt Alex's hand leave her back and a second later an odd glow appeared out of the corner of her eye.

"Come on, take a look." Alex turned the girl to face the forest again.

Mary was still scared but now that she was facing the woods that glow was brighter now. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened her eyes. Her fear turned to wonder.

The area was acuminated all around. The pitch black shadows had given way to light grey color. The trees that once looked like omens of evil now were just regular grey trunks. The glowing eyes turned out to belong to many different animals. Mary saw squirrels, chipmunks, a few sparrows, and even an owl up in the branches. Down below she caught the quickly retreating tail of a deer as it jumped further into the forest for cover. Despite her earlier fear, Mary felt a smile curve her lips. A twinkle of light caught her eye.

Looking straight up, Mary saw a beautiful night sky. Stars of many colors and the moon shined over head. She saw small splashes of crimson and blue lights like a thousand Christmas lights bunched together. It was a sight she'd only thought possible in a dream.

"See..." Mary turned and found Alex looking up at the starry sky. "Things are never as scary as they seem. You just need to add some light."

"Did you do that?" Mark asked in amazement.

Alex grinned like a cat as he turned to face Mary. "Now, I wonder..."

Mary looked confused but was saved by a sudden voice. "Don't mind him. He just likes showing off."

A woman with sapphire hair and ruby eyes stepped out from behind a tree. She smiled teasingly at the two. Alex stood up and nodded to the woman.

"This is my friend, Sara. Sara, meet Mary."

"Hello little one." Sara bowed respectfully at Mary who return the gesture in kind.

"Hey Sara, why don't you take Mary and show her around a bit?" He looked back at the little girl. "Is that ok with you?"

Mary looked around uncertainly. "Yes, but what about you?"

"I'll come by later. Just need to check on something," Alex gave Mary the thumbs up while he moved back the way they'd come.

"Don't be long." Sara called to him as she took Mary's hand. "Don't worry, he does this all the time." She turned back to the forest. "Now, I think I saw a deer a little ways back. Want to pet it?"

I walked for a good 5 minutes before I found it. A smile came to my face. Just beyond the light I'd made with the stars, it sat, growling in rage as I approached, the red eyes burning with hate. "Now, now." I said playfully as I walked within 10 feet of the beast. "There's no need to be all grumpy. You lost this one fair and square. Lets just calm down so no one gets hurt tonight. Ok?"

The eyes moved from the shadows. A head immerged, the head of an ash grey wolf, three times bigger an a normal animal and just as dangerous. I could feel its hunger, this one wasn't going to back down.

"Look," I warned, no longer trying to be nice. "The girl's nightmare is over. Her dream will no longer feed you. Go back into the darkness and I won't show you what happen to your kin. Now, back off!"

The beast made no response save for one. A small grunt escaped its fanged mouth. It refused to be scared by me. So, it lunged, and a howl could be heard across the land...
Melina's pulse pounded in her temples as she ran as fast as she could out of the dark alley and back to the busy city sidewalk. She did not pause but kept running block after block until her lungs and legs could take her no further. She finally stopped, leaning heavily against a building wall. She looked around, ready to scream if she saw either the girl or the man following her, but there was nobody. Passers by gave her a wide berth, probably thinking she had either just stolen something or was just crazy. Honestly, she wasn't entirely sure of her sanity right now either; she had no idea how the man, Jacob, had disabled her so quickly. He had not hit her or caused her pain, and yet she'd completely collapsed. And, the girl, Kiri, had not even seem phased. Well, angry maybe, but not surprised at whatever Jacob had done.

Melina pushed off from the wall and waved down the nearest cab. She didn't exactly have money to blow on cabs, but there was no way she was walking to another bus stop. She wedged herself into the back of a yellow taxi with a sigh of relief and gave the cab driver her address. As they started down the road in silence, Melina began to calm down. She felt that invisible calm and comfort that came over her whenever her guide, Nicholas, was close -- and he was always close during moments like these. But, she didn't sense any thoughts of danger from him; it was as if he'd never considered her in danger. It was puzzling. How could she literally be brought to her knees like that and not be in danger?

Melina looked out the window, feeling clarity and exhaustion washing over her as they drove out of the city. She began to remember what Kiri had said. There are others.

Others?

Others like her?

How had she known? Did she know? Did she really know?

Melina bit her lip. As terrifying as this entire experience had been, the thought of their being others like her was impossible to ignore. Kiri had said the others could help her. Melina had always felt there must be a purpose for her having these abilities. What if the others knew that purpose?

She couldn't believe it, but she was actually considering going back and finding the girl, Kiri; though, she thought she would absolutely avoid Jacob. And, even more startling, she felt absolutely no push back from Nicholas regarding the idea. In fact, it was almost like he wanted her to go back.
I slowly opened my eyes once more and found myself back in the back room of the massage parlor laying on the floor. I slowly tried to get up, but i felt sore as i did, and ended up falling back onto the floor as i held my face with one hand and my groin with the other. I was wondering what happened to me when i started to look right next to me, and saw Malissa laying next to me. I panicked as i started remembering what she did to me as i started massaging her and tried to move away from her. But that's when she rolled over and embraced me in her arms. I closed my eyes, expecting the worst.

But then i felt her breathing softly on my face as i slowly opened my eyes. That's when i saw that she was unconscious and didn't realize she was holding me. But i was still afraid for when she would wake up and try attacking me again. But then i remembered that strange dream i had about me being in her apartment room with her boyfriend Mike, and how she was being abused by him. But that was just a dream, right?

Just then, i felt the same shocking sensation from before again. Only this time, it felt stronger than before as i felt my eyes starting to burn and water. Then my eyes shot open as i was forced to look into Malissa's face as i started seeing something that wasn't there before. Her face slowly started reveling what looked like black and blue marks, plus small cuts and bruises under her cheeks and eyes. Then i started looking at her neck and saw a hand-print slowly reveling itself to me. I could even see what looked like fingerprints on her neck. And then i felt as though my eyes were zooming in closer on them like a camera lens, enabling me to see them much more clearly somehow. Then i could feel the image being scarred into my brain as i winced in pain and closed my eyes. And that's when i broke free from Malissa's grasp and crawled to the far wall opposite from her.

"What's...happening...to me?" I said as i slowly started crying from the pain my body was in. I swore that by the time the day was done, i was going to need a full body massage myself. After a few minutes of sobbing, i slowly tried getting up one more time. This time i made it up. But i was still feeling pretty sore all over from the beating Malissa gave me. Then i just looked at her for a few seconds before lifting her body off of the floor and onto the bed. It hurt like Hell lifting her up while my body was still in pain, but i didn't feel right leaving her on the floor like that.

And right as soon as i placed her on the bed, i felt that shocking sensation once again, followed by the burning of my eyes. But this time, my eyes were being drawn to her bare chest. I tried to look away as i felt like some kind of sick pervert who enjoys looking at sleeping naked women. But my eyes were doing their own thing as i looked closer at her cleavage. And then i saw more black and blue marks appearing right before my eyes.

And then, something even stranger happened. My eyes were focusing even stronger than before. It was almost though i was looking right past her skin, right down to her very bones. Like my eyes had just transformed into some kind of X-ray machine. I started to see some cracked ribs. Malissa was in even more pain than i anticipated when i started working on her back. Her whole body looked like she had survived a train wreck. But why was i seeing all of this now? And how come i didn't see any of it before?

Just then, i had an idea. And just like that, my eyesight had returned to normal. Now i was looking at her face once more. But this time, i licked my fingertips and started rubbing her face where i saw the black and blue marks. And sure enough, i could see makeup starting to rub off. And what laid underneath? Only the same black and blue mark's i could see from before.

Now shocked, i walked over to a nearby sink, wet a towel, and rung it out. Then i proceeded to wash the rest of Malissa's face off. And low and behold, the rest of the damages i could see from before were slowly starting to revile themselves. All the small cuts and bruises that i couldn't see from all the makeup and creams she was wearing to hide them were now laid bare for me. Leaving me in complete shock.

Then i decided to wash around her neck to see if i could find any red marks like someone had grabbed her there. And sure enough, there was a great big mark that looked like someone had strangled her there. It was enough to make me feel sick as i recoiled back into the wall right next to the door. I could only look at her unconscious body from afar as i felt so sorry for her.

Even though she had almost killed me in her rage a while ago, she had every right to let it all out. She had survived a Hell far worse than any kind of train wreck most people would be able to walk away from. She had survived being abused and tortured by the hands of a man who in my eye's, and in Malissa's eyes I'm sure as well, deserved nothing short of the death penalty.

But then, while i was deep in thought, i could hear Malissa stirring in her sleep as she started getting out of the bed, only to rap her arms around her body and silently cry out in pain. Then she turned her head towards me and almost jumped up in shock as she looked at my face and saw dried up blood coming from my still broken nose. Then i broke the silence by saying...

"I think you owe me an explanation."
The wolf dived at Alex with teeth and claws bared. But before it could cut into him, Alex seemed to vanish and the wolf went through empty air. It landed on the ground and turned in confusion and rage, looking for it's new prey.

"Show yourself!" the wolf snarled as it looked around, ready for the fight.

"Really?" Alex's voice resonded with dissapointment. "I tricked you that easily and you want to keep fighting? You haven't figured out who I am yet, have you?"

"Who cares?!" The nightmare wolf yelled. "Quiet hiding!"

"That's rather rude." Alex retorted mockingly. "And here I was going easy on you. But if you want to end it so bad..."

The wolf's eyes were drawn upwards as the lights in the sky seemed to dance just out of sight. Looking up, it saw Alex floating in mid air while three orbs of light spung around his head. The wolf crouched low and prepared for the attack.

"Here I come." Alex's voice had lost all of its eariler wit and playful nature. Now there was only cold harshness.

Alex dived from the air and sent his orbs ahead of him. The wolf dodged, avoiding the first and second orbs. However, the third hit him dead center in the stomach and threw the beast into the dirt. It tried to move, but was too late. The orbs formed up around him and change shape into a giant orb like cage trapping him. The wolf paniced as it tried to find an exit, but none were to be found. Alex landed infront of the cage.

"When you return to your masters after this fight, remind them that I am here. I am Alex Smith and if you try to harm a client of mine again, I will make sure you never reform. Goodbye."

And with that Alex held up his hand, fingers streached wide. Only now did the wolf realize who he'd been fighting. This was the being his kind called: 'The Child of Morpheus'. And it had just made this being made. Alex closed his fist and the cage of light micked this action by compressing itself around the wolf just as fast. The dark woods echoed with the breaf cry of a dieing animal...
Dear campfire members:
I apologize, but I do need to extinguish this campfire. Unfortunately, my professional life has become so hectic as to totally take over my free time. I feel it would be unfair to all of you to continually skip my turn to try and keep this thing going. Besides which, my upgrade is about to expire, and I will need to delete some things from my profile.

I do apologize and thank you for your participation.
