A prayer and cry out to God
I will stand and shout to the Lord
I will cast upon him my thoughts and ideas
I will cry out my struggles and pains
And I will stand and wait
and wait
for the enemy surrounds me with temptations
The sweet palpable taste of sin ever inviting
A hunger stirs up inside me
Freedom
Glorious freedom to eat of the fruits
To deceive those who walk alongside me
To stray again from the path
Down a wicked, twisting road
Into darkness
Where the light becomes ever distant
And I watch from afar as the things which are ever out of my reach,
Are cast into the arms of the ones I love
The ones who keep to the path of wonder and excitement
And I become eager and anxious
My treasures burn and decay
The possessions which once sparkled and shined
Now mere stains upon my soul
And so I stand in His house
With arms wide open
I weep over my past transgressions
My prayers echoing upon the alter
Ringing in my ears
I know it’s not for nothing
I know that he hears me and holds me
So I will stand and wait
And wait
For I am His
And I retain knowledge of the paths I once walked
So I wait and pray
Not for myself nor my worldly desires
May those be ever out of my reach
I pray for someone like myself to step into this house of worship
That I may be a beacon of light
That I might rescue them from the path of deceit
For I know the way is dark and turning back is not an option
I will guide them
I pray to be a pillar of smoke to help the lost find their way
May I be a Moses to this broken generation.
