This is a poem about the fear that physical and sexual assault causes.
She wanders around in the dark and fumbles like the blind.
Her pacing is fast because she knows what lurks behind.
A man from her past with a guilt ridden face.
Whose lies that are spoken are as smooth as lace.
Her hands are frantically feeling in the night.
She is unsure of when she will be gifted with light.
There are walls all around built into the sky.
At each dead end she pleads why.
She is lost and alone in a maze with no end.
And her pursuer waits for her in something she can’t transcend.
