It was after 5:00. I was still at work, finishing up a few things before heading to happy hour. Happy hour on Thursday night? Yes. One of our IT guys quit. His last day is tomorrow. In the summer, we typically get out early on Fridays and a lot of people head to the shore for the weekend so his "going away" happy hour was tonight. Anyway, I'm still at work and my phone rings. I'm thinking, who the hell is calling me now? Calls after 5:00 during our busy season are not unusual but it's not our busy season right now.

I see the phone number. It's my lawyer so I answer. We exchange pleasantries. Keep in mind, my lawyer is my husband's best friend. He says, "I have some good news for you." I thought he was going to tell me the trial date was moved. Instead, he said, "The case has been settled." Since I was so sure he was going to tell me anything but that (and that he was going to say the trial date changed), I said, "When do we...." Then I paused and said, "What did you say?" He laughed and said, "The case has been settled. We're not going to trial." I literally felt the weight lift off my shoulders.

For those of you who are new to my blog. Here's a brief summary. My mom died a little over 3 years ago. She was in a car accident a year before she died. The piece of shit that she hit is suing. I was the administrator of my mom's estate, which meant that I was responsible. In other words, I was the one being sued, on her behalf. It's been battle after battle, depositions, an arbitration hearing and the worthless, lowlife, piece of garbage wasn't even hurt. He turned down the offer from the arbitration hearing so a trial date was set for June 23rd. I received the notification in the mail about the trial date being set the day after we had scheduled our vacation. When were we supposed to leave for vacation? June 23rd. Damn the luck, right?

So anyway, the case has settled. THANK GOD! Halle-fuckin-lujah!!! I won't even discuss what the asshole got, my mom's car insurance company is paying it. I'm only responsible for my mom's deductible. I'm totally OK paying that, considering how bad it could have been. I can only hope that the piece of crap gets hit by a bus before he gets his check. Oh yeah, I went there. I mean it too. You have no idea what he's put me and my family through for absolutely no reason. He's not hurt. He just saw a meal ticket and tried to take advantage. I think he took years off my life.

I called my husband, my brothers and some friends to give everyone the good news. Then I went to happy hour and celebrated with a few beers. I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am.

Just wanted to share my good news with all of you. Now I've got to finish watching the season finale of LOST. I couldn't think of a better song to celebrate the occasion. B, try not to copy my tune today. *Wink*

What do you think?

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/bugatti/veyron164/100961529/prices.html

I mean, it's only a little over 2 million *Dollar**Dollar**Dollar*, so why not? That's pocket change. *Laugh* *Bigsmile* *Rolleyes* Seriously though, my co-workers and I were discussing this car in work today. Who has the money for something like this? It's ridiculous! I decided that I need to, somehow, get my hands on a list of people who own this car and go shopping for a new husband. *Shock* Did I say that out loud? *Laugh*

It must be a slow news day. http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/music-news-story/ar/_a/romo-wants-more-j...

Is that really news? I can't stand either one of them! Jessica Simpleton and Tony Homo annoy me so much. *Angry*

The Phillies are currently leading the Rockies 6-1 in the 7th inning. By the way, Z.˚rz , you said you wanted to bet for the Phils/Cards series June 13-15. You're on, my friend! *Wink*

Finally, I'll leave you with this tonight. I heard it on my way home from work and now it's stuck in my head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCjbphQH2iE

It was 90 degrees today. It was hot as hell in the house when I got home from work tonight. What did my husband say? "It's too soon to put on the air conditioner." *Shock* I didn't realize there was a timeline as to when you could turn on the AC. *Rolleyes* In my opinion, 90 degrees with 100% humidity is HOT no matter what time of year it is. Meanwhile, the poor (still injured) dog is walking (well, hobbling) around with her tongue hanging out of her mouth because she's so hot. Men! *Angry*

It did just start raining. Actually pouring. And here comes the thunder and lightning too. They just stopped the Phillies game because of it. The game was in the 7th inning. This storm is supposed to cool it down some.

Speaking of the Phillies, let me give you a breakdown of what they've been up to the last 3 days:
Sunday - the Phils beat the Astros 15-6
Monday - the Phillies beat the Rockies 20-5 *Shock*
Today - the Phils are beating the Rockies 7-3 (as of the 7th inning, the game is now in a rain delay)

That's a total of 42 runs in 3 days! HOLY SHIT!!!! *Shock* That's awesome! *Delight*

In other news, I saw this headline on AOL today, "Best & Worst Drug Stores: You pay 26% more if you shop here". Have no fear, Fivesixer , your Walgreens hottie is safe. It's apparently Rite Aid that overcharges.

I'll leave you all with this, only because I think it's appropriate given the weather here today. However, I think I hear 1982 calling. They'd like their video back. *Laugh* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_brVtFvZQfw

We went to a Memorial Day barbecue yesterday. Our friends Theresa and Greg hosted. It was a great time! We had so much fun. It started at 3:00 p.m. and the last guests left around 2:30 this morning. There was a keg, numerous coolers filled with any kind of drink you can imagine and enough food to feed an entire third world country. They have a bar set up in their garage for people who want mixed drinks. There's a refrigerator in there too. It's the "beer fridge". We have one of those in my house too. *Bigsmile*

Theresa and Greg didn't want anyone to bring anything, EXCEPT my husband and I. We had to make our Irish Cream or else we would not have been allowed in. I made a gallon of it yesterday. It was gone in no time at all! *Shock* For those of you that don't know what my homemade Irish Cream is, see "Invalid Entry. By the way, this is not a drink, it's meant to be a shot so that gallon jug should have lasted a lot longer than it did! *Laugh* Because of the ingredients in this drink, it has to be kept refrigerated. Greg made room for it in the "beer fridge" in the garage and Theresa made the sign below and hung it on the fridge (because everyone there was asking where they were "hiding the Irish Cream"):

Yes folks, that's a paper towel she wrote that on. We are so classy, aren't we? *Laugh* *Bigsmile* A good time was had by all. It was nice to just sit around and relax with friends. The weather cooperated too. It was almost 80 yesterday. It got chilly when the sun when down but they have one of those chiminea (did I spell that right?) things and those suckers kick off some heat when you fire them up!

Now here's something that I know you can all appreciate, especially B and Casey. I know this annoys them as much as, if not more than, it annoys me. What is it, you ask? Idiot reviewers. Oh yes, I went there...again. I wrote a new poem over the weekend and entered it into one of WDC's contests. I got a review from a complete moron. He gave me a 3. The review is pretty long too. To sum it up, he basically told me it was crap. He told me my grammar sucked too (and grammar is something I pride myself on). He told me my syllable counts were off (the prompt for this contest was Hendecasyllabic, which means 11 syllables per line). He told me the rhyme seemed forced and that I used too many "filler" words. He also told me to invest in a thesaurus because my word choices were boring. I've paraphrased all of this but that's basically the jist of the review. The last line said, "I hope I haven't turned you off from writing." Um, seriously? I felt like writing him back and saying, "Hey idiot, why don't you go to my port and see how many awards I've won and how many of my poems have been published." But I didn't. What a jackass this guy is! The real kicker? I went over to his port. He's been on WDC for 1 week. He has 2 items in his port. One is an essay that SUCKS and doesn't allow ratings. The other is a poem that also sucks and doesn't show any ratings he's received for it. There are misspellings and numerous grammatical errors throughout both of them. Sorry to be repeating myself but WHAT A JACKASS! *Angry* I have a question for all of you. How many syllables is the word "she'll"? I'm curious to see the answers I get.

Well, happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the long weekend and doing something fun. My husband and I are going to do some yardwork and we're also going to work on the pool. It's still kinda gross. Not as bad as it was when the pool guys opened it last weekend, but it's still a little nasty. We can actually see the bottom now though! YAY! We're also going to clean up the grill (hopefully there's gas in it) and fire that bad boy up. I LOVE cooking on the grill. Everything just tastes so much better!

I'll leave you with this. These guys were in town this weekend but I, unfortunately, did not get to see them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_6KPet8Zo8

I honestly don't know what it is with me and the supermarket. Every time I'm there, someone hits on me. It doesn't even matter which one I go to (there are 3 near me so depending on which direction I'm headed, that determines what supermarket I go to). The other night when I was hit on in the parking lot of the supermarket, that was Pathmark. This morning I went to ShopRite and was hit on in the spice aisle. WTF? The really interesting part is that I had just gotten up. All I did was wash my face, brush my teeth, put on some jeans, a t-shirt and a baseball cap...no shower, no make-up, nothing. This guy still hit on me. He started off by asking if I was looking for some spices for my BBQ, then asked if he could come to my BBQ. I told him I wasn't having one. Then he finally noticed my engagement ring and wedding band. He apologized, told me my husband was a lucky guy, asked how long I was married...blah, blah, blah. Needless to say, I couldn't get out of the damn spice aisle fast enough! *Laugh*

I ran into him 5 MORE TIMES. I kinda think he was following me through the store. Every time he ran into me, he had something else to say. One time I was at the salad bar. I thought it'd be nice to make myself a salad for lunch today while my husband and one of his friends are playing around with our Corvette. He spotted me again and said, "And you eat healthy too? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I mean, damn, you sure are doing those jeans justice." Really? Does this guy think that the more he hits on me, the more likely I'll be like Hey, forget my husband, let's get together? I wanted to say, Get a clue, buddy. I'm not interested! I mean, seriously, what the hell was he thinking?

I'm starting to think my husband should start doing all the food shopping! *Bigsmile* *Laugh* Yeah, like that will ever happen. *Rolleyes*

So...the scavenger hunt on Thursday, actually wasn't a scavenger hunt at all. They kept telling us it would be different this year. It was more like the amazing race. It was very cool. Each team was given a "passport" and a clue in a sealed envelope. Inside the envelope was a riddle or clue. Once we figured it out, we went to that location, looked for the "fun committee" representative, we then had to do a challenge. Once we did the challenge, they stamped our "passport" and handed us another sealed envelope that had the riddle/clue for the next location that we had to go to. Our final destination was the bar that we always go to for happy hour. We ran our asses off through the city! I'm fairly certain we scared the shit out of a few tourons (tourists + moron = tourons) we ran past (and nearly ran over) but it was a BLAST! My team ended up finishing in 5th place. Not good but not too bad. There were 4 teams that never even finished because they couldn't figure out the clues (which is sad because they were not difficult)...kinda made everyone wonder about their intelligence. *Laugh* There was one team that never got past their first clue *Shock* (there were 9 total)! It was a late night Thursday night. Everyone stayed at the bar for a long time. I mean, my team finished by 3:45. I didn't leave the bar until almost 7:30 (yes, I was drinking for almost 4 hours...on a "school night" no less)! There were still about 10 people there when I left. As you can imagine, everyone was dragging in the office yesterday. At least they let us out early (3:00) since it was a holiday weekend. A few of us stopped at the bar anyway but only stayed til 4:00. Then I sat in shore traffic for an hour and half trying to get home. I live on a direct route to the Jersey shore so traffic was ridiculous!

Here's a song for you. I hope you enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BUU7ff3ntE&feature=related

I hope you all have a very happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! *Cool*

I work in a very cool office. Everyone gets along very well, for the most part. My team is the best in the office, of course. The teams consist of the following:

a Workgroup Manager (my boss)
a Senior <---me
7 or 8 Analysts
1 Associate Analyst

Each team has a name. Our team name is the SWAT team (Smart, Witty, Analytical & Talented). Pretty cool, huh? So, like I said, my team is the best. We not only work well together but we geniunely like each other. We have a dynamic on this team that no other team in our office has. We go to lunch together, we hang out together (typically at happy hour on Friday nights), etc. It's a great bunch.

We have a "fun committee" in our office. They are responsible for coming up with fun activities for us to do throughout the year. We always attend a Phillies game at some point in the summer. One year we did an indoor golf tournament, where each team had to create the golf holes and then we also had to play - that was a BLAST! They come up with stuff to break the monotony and, a lot of the ideas they come up with are also team building exercises. Today is our second annual scavenger hunt. We're split up into teams of 4 or 5, we're given a list of items to find in the city and then we're off. Last year when we did this it was 100 degrees with 100% humidity. I'm shocked that no one died of heat stroke! It was so much fun though. They decided to do it earlier this year to avoid the heat. Of course, it's chilly today and it also looks like it could rain. *Frown* Hopefully, the weather will hold up and they won't have to cancel it (it starts at 2pm). Wish me luck! Last year, we didn't even finish in the top 3 but we did a lot better than I thought we would! *Pthb*

Speaking of my office, I have to get your opinion on something. I work in an office of about 80 people. We have a small kitchen. A lot of people bring their lunches. We have 2 microwaves. Now, in an office of 80 people, I'm sure you can understand that those 2 microwaves are in high demand at lunchtime. I went in to heat up my lunch today. I figured I'd have to wait for a microwave, I usually do, but today was a little different. Both microwaves were being used by the SAME PERSON!!!!!! I think that's very rude (so did my co-workers that I mentioned it to), especially since, while she was running back-and-forth between both microwaves, there was quite a line forming of people waiting to heat up their lunches. It really annoyed me. *Angry* Is this rude or am I totally off my rocker?

Working in the city, there is no shortage of crazy people walking the streets. I encounter them every day walking to/from my car, or if I happen to be out and about at lunch time. I know there are a lot of crazy people in the world, but I think this story takes the cake. It sort of falls under crazy and rude.

It was a nice day today so two of my co-workers went for a power walk at lunchtime to get some exercise. They came back and told all of us what happened. We were appalled. Apparently, some guy was walking behind them. They said he was carrying what looked to be x-rays. He asked them where a particular hospital was and they told him. He said, "Wow, that would be a long walk." They agreed and continued on with their power walk and the conversation the two of them were having. They figured that was the end of it. This guy remained behind them. They began to get alarmed because he was still behind them and he was talking to himself. Not just talking to himself but having a full on argument with himself. *Shock*

They started to quicken their pace but he seemed to keep up. The next thing they know, he asks them if there's a restaurant nearby. They didn't want to egg him on so they just said they weren't sure and hoped he'd leave them alone. He said, "What do you mean, you don't know?! You knew where the hospital was! Keep on with your fast walking, fat asses!" *Shock* *Frown* They said at that point he crossed the street and went in another direction. Isn't that unbelievable? I think if someone had said that to me, I would have cried. They both laughed it off. I give them a lot of credit for being able to laugh about it. I'm not sure I'd be able to.

I stopped at the supermarket on my way home tonight. I was putting my bags in the car and some guy came up behind me (scared the shit out of me too). I turned around to get another bag and he was right there. It really startled me. He said, "I was wondering if I could get your number?" Because I had nearly jumped out of my skin when I turned around and saw him, I didn't even hear what he said. I said, "I'm sorry?" He repeated the question. I said, "I don't think my husband would go for that." He looked down at my left hand and got that "oh shit" look on his face. He said, "I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking at your hand. Tell your husband he's a lucky guy because you are one gorgeous woman." I actually felt bad for him. He was walking back to his car and two of his friends were standing there. They had been watching the whole time and they were laughing at him. I felt so bad for him. I know, what is it with me and supermarkets? I told my husband about it when I got home. He said, "You should have given it to him." I was like, "What?!!" He said, "You never know. He coulda been rich!" You know, it's a real good thing I'm not sensitive or anything. *Laugh* *Rolleyes*

The Phils are currently beating the Nationals 4-0 in the 5th. They need a win so I hope they can pull it off.

Here's a song for your listening pleasure. Apparently, "we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy". *Pthb*

After numerous conversations with people, I've decided to uncensor my blog. I changed my rating back to 18+. If the powers that be at WDC want to change it, so be it. *Rolleyes*

I just got home. I had to leave work at 3 today for a meeting with my attorney. My personal attorney, not the one's for my mom's car insurance company. Since the case is now going to trial, the punitive damages come into play, which means I need to have my personal attorney (who is my husband's best friend) involved. Of course the attorney for the car insurance company, has not returned any of his calls either. UGH! He's typing up a letter tomorrow and faxing it over, letting her know that we've been trying to get in touch...yadda, yadda, yadda. He said that way it'll be documented so if we eventually have to file a malpractice suit against them for being unresponsive, we have it documented. Just what I need, another lawsuit.

So anyway, someone, whether it's Jim (our attorney) or Jill (the unresponsive attorney from my mom's car insurance company), will be filing a motion to dismiss the punitive damages because they're RIDICULOUS! My mother is dead. She has been for 3 years. This accident happened 4 years ago. Why should I have to pay this worthless piece of shit, who isn't even hurt, any money?!!!! *Angry*

No matter how you look at this, it's going to end up costing us money out of our pockets. Either to pay Jim, he's going to cut us quite a break, but it could still be expensive depending on how much time he needs to put into this. And, of course, if punitive damages are awarded and/or actual damages are over my mom's policy limit, that would come out of our pockets too. In light of all this, my husband said tonight, "We'll have to cancel our vacation until we get this resolved and know how much we're going to have to pay." Great. Haven't had a vacation since our honeymoon. We schedule one and the next day I get the notice that a trial date has been set, which, ironically, is the day we're supposed to leave for vacation.

How is any of this fair? How can our legal system actually allow this to happen? She's dead! This lawsuit wasn't even filed until after I had closed out her estate. I wasn't even in the same state when my mom got into this accident. How can I possibly be held accountable? Obviously, these are all rhetorical questions so please don't feel obligated to answer. I'm just venting.

On to my next subject, that has me thoroughly confused. There was an all staff meeting at work this morning. One of the top guys from our corporate office was in and he held the meeting. You know what that means? Yep, we all had to dress up today. We normally wear jeans to work but that's not "corporate" policy. The meeting, of course, did not start on time. Everyone was filing in, taking their seats and chatting until the meeting started. There was a guy sitting in front of me. He's gay. I have no problem with that so I don't want anyone to think that. But he turned around, looked me up and down several times and told me that I looked hot today. Then he leaned in really close, looked directly into my eyes and said, "My God, you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. I've never seen blue eyes that are that blue!" *Shock* There were several people around who heard all of this and were just as shocked as I was. One other thing, every time this guys sees me, he has a comment about how nice I look, how pretty I am, how smart I am, etc. Ummmm, anyone else confused here? One of the girls on my team, who was sitting next to me said, "I think he forgets he's gay when he's around you". She's actually been around for many of the times he's said things to me because her cube is next to mine. This guy is married to his partner because they went somewhere where that is legal to have the ceremony. I'm seriously confused by all of this. *Confused* Am I alone in my confusion?

Here's an update on my teams. The Flyers season ended on Sunday. *Frown* I haven't been able to talk about it. The Phillies have lost 3 games in a row. They are terrible right now. Two of their biggest problems? Brett Myers and Adam Eaton. Two of our five starting pitchers SUCK! You can't win baseball games that way.

That's about all I've got for today. I'll leave you with this song. I chose it because if the waste of a life that's suing me (well, suing my deceased mother) thinks he's going to get any money out of me without one hell of a fight, he can DREAM ON!

After reading several blog entries yesterday, one in particular from my friend and fellow blogger, Fivesixer , I decided to censor myself. Well, actually, my blog. I previously had the rating set at 18+. I thought that was sufficient. I mean, by the time I was 18, I had said, heard and read just about every blasphemous word known to man. *Blush* Here is WDC's definition of the 18+ rating:

"18+ - excessive mild cursing or one instance of the completed (or phonetically spelled) F-word"

One instance of the completed F-word?! Uh oh! I know I have more than
one instance
of it in my blog. What is WDC's definition of the GC rating, you ask?

"GC - excessive harsh cursing and/or sexually derived words"

Why doesn't it say more than one instance of the completed (or phonetically spelled) F-word? *Rolleyes*

All of this prompted me to change the rating of my blog to GC. It also led to some extremely funny e-mails between B and I about the ridiculousness of all of this. I think B summed it up best in one of his e-mails when he quoted Eric Cartman (from South Park), "Fuck fuck fuckity fuck!"

Yes, I believe that's more than one instance of the completed F-word. *Laugh* *Bigsmile*

Hopefully by now you've all received your gift raffle tickets. If not, I'm sure you'll be getting them shortly. It's just my way of saying thank you to those of you that have made a difference in my WDC life. *Smile* Good luck in the raffle!

It's been another fun weekend. Yesterday I went to my 9 year old niece's birthday party at Build-A-Bear. Actually, she's not really my niece by blood (she is one of my Godchildren though) but she does call me Aunt Julie. Her mom, my friend Jen, has been one of my best friends for about 18 years. So there were 12 kids at the birthday party yesterday and 3 adults (Jen & her husband Mike and myself). Whew! It was exhausting. After that, all the kids went back to Jen & Mike's for dinner and cake and ice cream. I couldn't go because my husband and I already had dinner plans last night. The birthday party was co-ed but after cake and ice cream, the boys were leaving and the girls were staying over for my niece's very first slumber party. Jen said, "Wish me luck! Hopefully, I'll live through the night." *Bigsmile* There were 8 girls that stayed over. I haven't talked to Jen yet to see how everything went. I figured I'd give her some time to decompress first. *Laugh*

My hubby and I went out to dinner last night. We were going to go to a movie too but we were both exhausted. I did my normal Saturday "chores" (food shopping, cleaning, laundry) and then I went to Regina's party. John had some soccer stuff to do (he's a coach and he's president of the soccer board) and then he was working on his "fun" car. We have 3 cars, one of them is his "fun" car. It's a 1975 Corvette. It's his baby. The starter went and he was trying to fix that. It didn't happen. He's not very handy (shhh, don't tell him I said that). *Laugh* We have friends that own an autobody shop and they said they'd come over to work on the car when they have a chance. It's killing him though. The weather is nice so he wants to be able to drive around in his "play" car.

So anyway, we went to dinner last night, to one of our favorite restaurants. We had to wait a while for a table. That's not unusual for a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and watched some of the Phillies game while we waited for our table. When we finally got seated, we spotted another guy that serves on the soccer board with John. We said hi, chatted for a few minutes and then went to our table. We ordered and then when our salads came out, our waiter said to us, "Your friend on the soccer board wants to buy you and your...your...your..." and my husband and I both said, "Wife" at the same time. The waiter laughed and then he looked at me and said, "I'm sorry, I wasn't sure. You look so young. Anyway, he wants to buy you both a drink." Nice! I love it when people think I'm young! *Wink* We came home after dinner because we were both exhausted. Dinner was great and we had a really good time.

The pool guys are here opening our pool. YAY! To me, that's the official start of summer. Of course the pool is a nasty greenish-black color. EW! The pool guy said that every pool they've opened this year has been like that and they don't know why. My guess is that we had a rather mild winter and we've had some pretty hot days already (a few days we almost got to 90). Anyway, can't wait until the pool clears up and warms up so that we can start using it! I love swimming!!! It relaxes me so much.

I'm really taking advantage of my new premium membership. I added a few photo albums today. If you're curious to see what I look like, here are links to the albums.

I'll leave you with this song. I probably should have used this in my rainbow entry from last week but oh well. Here it is now. It's such a beautiful song. This was actually the song my husband and his mother danced to at our wedding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztepu9bIMBE&feature=related

When I first joined WDC at the end of February, I signed up for a 3 month upgraded membership. I thought that would be a good "trial period" in case I didn't like the site. Well, I happen to love the site so today, I purchased a 1 year premium membership. I'm still trying to figure out all the additional stuff I get with the premium membership. If anyone has any pointers for things I should try/check out, I'd appreciate it. *Smile*

In the 3 short months I've been here, I've met some wonderful people. So my gift to you will be coming your way shortly. Hopefully you'll get it sometime this weekend. *Wink* It's just my way of saying thank you for making me feel welcome.

The Phillies just beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-3. Jayson Werth hit 3 home runs (a 3-run homer, a solo shot and a GRAND SLAM)! WOW!! He tied the Phillies record for most RBIs in a game. *Bigsmile* The Flyers ended up winning 4-2 last night. Game 5 is Sunday in Pittsburgh.

It's Friday and the end to another long week. As you know, it was quite a rough one for me. I'm glad it's over. I went to happy hour with some co-workers after work tonight. It's an early night. I'm beat.

Here are a few songs to say "thank you".

Since I haven't exactly been having the best week, I decided to treat myself to a spa pedicure tonight after work. Once summer starts I do regular pedicures so I can wear flip-flops and sandals but I rarely EVER treat myself to a spa pedicure. What's the difference between a pedicure and a spa pedicure (besides the price)? A LOT! A spa pedicure is about an hour and a half of having your feet and lower legs pampered - it's wonderful! It relaxed me so much! *Yawn* My toes look really cute too! *Laugh* I figured I deserved a little pampering. *Wink*

The dog is doing better. Thank you all for you concern and kind words. I really appreciate it. She's still really favoring that foot. It's quite a pathetic sight to see her hopping around on 3 legs. The good thing is that she started putting some weight on it today. That's a sure sign that it's not hurting her as bad. I'm so glad because it breaks my heart to know she's in pain. She's such a good girl and she's really taking this like a champ.

Not much else going on...which is quite a refreshing change considering all that's happened the last several days. The Phillies are currently losing 8-5 in the 9th. Maybe they can pull it off. They were down 8-0 so we'll see. The Flyers lost again last night. They are down 3-0 in the series against the Penguins. Game 4 is tomorrow night. I hate to say it but I think the Flyers season will be over after tomorrow night. Even if they do win tomorrow night, I don't think they'll end up winning this series. I don't think any (NHL) team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit. Even if the Flyers do lose, I can't complain. They're in the conference FINALS after being in last place last season. That's quite a feat itself.

Well, I'm tired so I'm off to bed. I hope everyone had a good day today. I'll leave you with this (it was the only song I could find that had to do with feet, since I was talking about my pedicure earlier). *Bigsmile* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my3yP-w3rtw

So my blog got to 500 views yesterday. YAY!! I think that's pretty good considering I haven't been on here very long. *Bigsmile*

Sadly, that's about the only bright spot of the last few days. Here's the crap I've had to deal with (and the reason I haven't been able to write an entry or stop over to any of your blogs).

I stayed home from work yesterday. We ended up in the Vet ER with Kelsey (our dog) Sunday night (and were there very late). She fell down the basement steps (she missed the last 2 or 3 steps). We thought she broke her foot again (she had broken one right before Christmas). It turns out it's just a sprained or torn ligament. That was pretty much how my crap-ass weekend went.

I had to host on Mother's Day because I apparently have to host all holidays. It would be nice if someone else would step up once in a while and host something. No one else ever does ANYTHING! I guess it shouldn't bother me, I mean, I'm the only one who isn't a mother and I'm also the only one without a mother so why would I mind hosting Mother's Day? Sorry, I'm just in a mood because this is the reason my dog fell down the basement stairs. We have a gate to keep her from going upstairs but since the basement has a door, we don't have a gate for that. There was so much commotion & people in the house, a few people went down the basement, left the door open and well, the rest is history.

Oh, remember my mom's lawsuit? The piece of shit was supposed to have his decision from the arbitration hearing by April 5th. I've been calling the lawyers since then and no one had the decency to call me back. I got a notice in the mail on Saturday. A trial date has been set for June 23. Did I mention that I was finally able to talk my husband into going on vacation (for the first time since our honeymoon)? Guess when we're supposed to be going? Yep, June 23. I can't win!

Sorry about that. I'm just cranky and upset plus my "friend" is visiting so I have ungodly cramps. It's only Tuesday and I'm already having a banner week, as I'm sure you can tell. I'm not normaly cranky or bitchy but it was either put this in my blog or just start screaming at random strangers on the street (and probably end up committed to a mental hospital). *Laugh* So you all are the lucky winners of listening to (well, reading) my bitchfest. *Bigsmile* Thank God for my sense of humor, right? Sorry. I promise to be in a better mood when I write my next entry. *Wink*

This is an appropriate song for my mood today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThkzfsTyqAQ

UPDATE
My husband is home with the dog today since our little invalid is hopping around on 3 legs. He e-mailed me this picture a little while ago. The subject line of the e-mail was "update on the patient". I should first tell you that she LOVES to sunbathe, either on our back deck or inside by our sliding doors (which is where this picture was taken). And yes, my husband apparently has way too much time on his hands. *Bigsmile* *Laugh*

Well, it's been another busy weekend. It'll be a short entry today because I've got an extremely busy day ahead of me. I'm hosting the Mother's Day festivities (as usual, I host almost every holiday...would be nice if someone else would "step up" and do it once in while).

I got a notice in the mail yesterday from the lawyers handling my mom's lawsuit (since they can't seem to return phone calls). We're going to trial. That's right, how ridiculous is that? The trial date is set for June 23 which also happens to be when we're going on vacation. Of course! I can't catch a friggin' break! *Angry*

Enough of my ranting. I just wanted to wish all the mom's out there a Happy Mother's Day!

I tried finding a song about mom's to post. This is the best I could come up with. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V_rXTp1yBU *Bigsmile* *Delight* *Laugh*

I'll be by to check blogs as soon as I can (probably not until tomorrow). Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

We're getting torrential downpours today but it seems fitting. It's a somber day in the City of Philadelphia as a slain police officer is being laid to rest today. Flags are all at half-staff, streets are closed to accommodate the funeral procession and the city's police precincts are all draped in black. He was murdered by bank robbers he was trying to apprehend last Saturday. He would have celebrated his 40th birthday this week. He leaves behind a wife and 3 children.

I work in a high-rise building, near one of the bridges connecting NJ and Philadelphia. My co-workers and I watched this morning while hundreds of police cars crossed that bridge with their sirens and lights on. They were all on their way to this funeral. They are expecting thousands of people to attend.

Funerals for fallen fireman, police officers and military always draw huge numbers of people. My last boyfriend (before I met my husband) was a police officer. While we were going out, a fellow officer in his department was killed. That was my first experience with a viewing/funeral of this sort. There were thousands of people there. In 2004, a marine I knew was killed in Iraq. Again, thousands attended. On July 4, 2002, a firefigther I knew, Tommy (my best friend's brother), was killed in the line of duty. It was estimated that there was somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 people that attended. Did all of those people actually know him? No, they did not. Most people who attend these things are other service personnel who come to pay their last respects to a fellow officer/firefighter, etc. It's truly a brotherhood unlike anything I've ever experienced before in my life. The non-service personnel attendants, if they didn't know him, were simply there to say thank you to a fallen hero.

Not only was Tommy killed on Independence Day, it also happened to be our first Independence Day after 9/11. At our town's fireworks display the night before the fire, Tommy climbed to the top of a ladder truck and publicly proposed to his girlfriend (and mother of his son). People not only felt patriotic, they felt they knew him for having shared such a private, beautiful moment with him.

At the cemetery, we got there long before most of the funeral procession had made it. It was almost 100 degrees that day and we just stood around waiting for the rest of the procession. I have extremely bad allergies and I started having a sneezing fit. The next thing I knew, I had gotten a nose bleed. A few firefighters that were there saw this happen and came running over to where my friends and I were standing. They gave me a handkerchief, put my head back, etc. Basic first aid. Once the bleeding subsided, I thanked them and we began talking. They asked if I knew Tommy. I told them I did and they asked how I knew him. I told them he was my best friend's brother and had always been like another brother to me. We chatted for a few minutes and when they turned to leave, I saw the patches on their arms that said "FDNY" and another that said, "9/11/01: We will never forget". My heart sank, even though I already had a very heavy heart that day. Remember how I said earlier that this was the first 4th of July after 9/11? Also, keep in mind that 343 firefighters were killed on 9/11. They were still burying their own in NYC but these guys came down anyway to pay their respects. I stopped them and said, "I didn't realize you were from NYC. This must be very difficult for you." I choked up and began crying as I said this to them. One of them said, "It's difficult anytime something like this happens. And it's a tragedy if it's 3 or 343 that were killed." My (girl) friends and I hugged all of them. My (guy) friends shook their hands. We all thanked them and wished them the best. I'll never forget their kindness and I'll never forget what they told me.

I just wanted to share that story with all of you as a reminder to never forget our fallen heroes and pray for those who are out there protecting us everyday. Here is some information on the police officer that is being buried today. http://www.kyw1060.com/Mourners-Pay-Last-Respects/2153813

I wrote a poem about Tommy, shortly after he was killed. It's a very personal and emotional piece for me.

What is it about the rain that makes people suddenly forget how to drive? *Angry* As if my commute to/from work isn't bad enough, when it rains, it's like every moron with a license is behind the wheel! This morning was an awful commute to work. I actually considered turning around and going home. The normal route I take in is always a nightmare but is compounded by construction right now. This morning, there were also 2 accidents on that highway. I listened to the traffic report on the radio and heard that an alternate route I was considering had 3 accidents on it and 2 other roads each had 1 accident. Oh, did I mention, that it was HARDLY raining at all??? Seriously, what is wrong with people?!

On my way home the ride was bad but nowhere near as bad as it was on the way in. The sun began to come out even though it was still raining and the most beautiful rainbow appeared and banished my rainy day blahs. I took this picture with my cell phone.

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

It isn't the best picture in the world, since I took it with my cell phone...and you can see the rain on my car windshield. *Bigsmile* Plus, you really have to concentrate on the rainbow (it's coming out of the trees to the left). Anyway, the picture might not be perfect but the rainbow sure was. It brightened my day in so many ways. Whenever I see something beautiful like that, I realize all over again that the world isn't such a bad place after all. *Wink*

I hope everyone has a good evening! I'll leave you with this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjNCUV2YO6I

Do you ever wonder why we stereotype people? We're all guilty of it at some point. Whether we knowingly do it or not is a part of the human psyche I'd rather not delve into. I stopped by the supermarket on my way home from work tonight to pick up a few things for dinner. While I was there, I decided to get some windshield washer fluid for my car. Monday morning as I was driving into work, I used some and ever since, the warning light that I needed to add more has been flashing and dinging. That annoys me so much but I kept forgetting to buy some.

Anyway, I bought some and when I went back out to my car, I popped the hood and added the washer fluid. Like I said, I can't stand the flashing warning light and the dinging sound so I didn't want to wait until I got home to add it. I add the washer fluid, put the cap back on and close the hood of my car. All the sudden, I hear clapping and someone say, "Nicely done!" I look around and see a guy, a very hot one (I left that part out when I told my husband this story *Wink*) leaning against his truck. He was parked a few spaces down. He walks over to me and says, "I'm impressed that you knew how to do that. I was going to offer to help if you had struggled at any point but you didn't. You surprised me." I asked him why and he said, "Women can't typically do things like that. Especially a hot one like yourself." That REALLY annoyed me! I said, "Well, I guess you can't judge a book by its cover, can you?" And then I walked away.

Why is it that men think women know nothing about cars? I'll be honest, my knowledge is limited but something as simple as adding washer fluid doesn't turn me into a poor, helpless, doe-eyed female in need of a big, strong man to come to my rescue. I'm not male-bashing at all. I know that women stereotype men as well. I'll again ask the question I asked at the beginning of this entry. Why do we stereotype?

I'll leave you tonight with two videos. I couldn't decide between the two so you're getting both. *Laugh* She's great! I saw her in concert YEARS ago and it was awesome!

I never got a chance to blog last night. We went to a local bar last night for their 10th anniversary party. The drinks were flowing freely my friends. *Bigsmile* I wasn't drunk at all but I was feeling pretty good. *Laugh*

I found this on my lunch break on cnn.com and thought I'd share. http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/05/07/blog.therapy/index.html

I hope everyone is having a great day so far. It's sunny and 82 degrees here! I LOVE THIS WEATHER!!!!! *Cool* I'll be by later to check blogs.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today is the Mexican holiday to celebrate Mexico's victory over France in 1862. Of course that victory was short-lived as the French occupied Mexico a year later. Yes, there I go again with my useless information. *Bigsmile* What can I say? I'm a big dork. I always have been. I was always a straight A student, I love to read, I enjoy watching the History Channel, A&E, the Discovery Channel, etc. I'm proud to be a dork. All kidding aside, I love to learn new things.

I do actually have a point to this blog entry. If today is the celebration of a Mexican victory over France, where does the drinking come in? Bars all over the place have been advertising their Cinco de Mayo specials for a while now. Corona, Dos Equis and tequila commercials have been running more frequently than political ads - and that's really saying something! *Pthb*

I work in the city in a HUGE bar district. I have a 4-5 block walk from my office to my car so I pass several bars along the way. When I walked past them, around 5:15-5:20, they were already packed with drunken idiots! My first thought was, "Doesn't anyone work anymore?" How is it that days like Cinco de Mayo and St. Patrick's Day turn into nothing more than drinking holidays? Don't get me wrong, I'm mostly Irish, so I take part in St. Patrick's Day festivities. I even sometimes celebrate Cinco de Mayo. When I got home from work tonight, I had a Corona Light with my dinner. I wasn't in a drinking mood though so I only finished half and dumped the rest. *Shock* *Confused* My question is, do we really need an excuse to drink? Are we using the holidays on March 17 and May 5 as excuses to drink? You know people are drinking the other 363 days a year (or 364 this year because of the leap year), so does that mean we need to come up with a holiday for every other day of the year? I'm not trying to offend anyone. I just find all of this rather amusing. Just some food for thought. I'm curious to see if any of you agree.

I will leave you all with this song. I heard this on the radio on my way home from work tonight and it sorta stuck. *Cool* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5mjN32G1iI

While you're enjoying that video, raise your Corona, or margarita, and toast the 146th anniversary of the Mexican victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. *Wink*

When we make a bet, sometimes we bet money, other times we bet something important to us or even a service. "I'll wash your car if you win." If you're Captaintaya , you bet writing a poem. She's a Montreal Canadiens fan and she made a bet with The Revolutionist for the playoff series with the Flyers. The end result? Well, the Canadiens lost so Captaintaya had to write a poem. I stumbled across it earlier and thought I'd share it with all of you. I really enjoyed it and I hope you all do too! *Delight*

The Flyers beat the Canadiens last night 6-4. The Flyers advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. It was a great game. Friends of ours had some people over to watch the game. It was a lot of fun. Someone mentioned whether there would be another trip to Atlantic City and Donna and I just looked at each other like, "no way in hell!" I think it'll be a little while before there's another trip like that. *Laugh* The Phillies lost to the Giants last night 3-2. Today's game just started so there's no score...yet.

On another note, I had a poem win a competition for the Poet's Paradise group. If you're interested in checking it out, here's the link:

The rest of the weekend was pretty low-key. Friday night there was a small happy hour after work with some co-workers (of course). That's always a good time. *Cool* Of course you know my motto, "Any hour with a drink in hand is a happy hour." *Wink* Yesterday my husband and I did a very thorough spring cleaning of our house. And yes, he actually helped. *Shock* It's amazing to me how much junk 2 people can accumulate! How is that possible?!! *Confused* After that I ran a few errands. Then we were off to our friends house by 6:00 so we could watch the Kentucky Derby (the Flyers game didn't start until 7:00).

How sad was that yesterday that they had to put down Eight Belles because she broke both front ankles? And right after the poor thing had just finished in second place in the Kentucky Derby. I cried. Any time an animal is hurt or injured, I turn into a blubbering idiot. *Cry* I couldn't watch. I had to leave the room. I wish there was some other alternative to that. I know that when a horse breaks a bone, it releases fatal toxins into their blood and is excruciatingly painful to them. I just wish that some veterinarian somewhere could come up with a cure because having to euthanize a beautiful animal like that is so very sad.

I'll be by to check blogs later. I will leave you all with this. This song is dedicated to Eight Belles. The lights will guide you home, sweetie. Rest in peace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBEYyHGbwto
