30 DBC - 29th September - Prompt: Plot the perfect crime was the beginning of this series on September 29th.

However day 2 September 30th was supposed to be you proudly acknowledging your success except.... things are happening to you just as you plotted by who because your victim is having everything happen right along with you. How can this be possible? Who, Why?
That's exactly what Norb and I want to know.


Dude! Seriously! I forced someone to chop their arms of with a sausage machine just so they could become an internationally renowned criminal without leaving finger prints! There is no one in their right mind who would copy that! Any sane person would just burn their finger prints off and be done with it!



Today I've decided to copout I'm afraid. Well, no, I'm not copping out per se. I'm just (to quote Elle - on hiatus) using the prompt to guide my entry rather than answering it. Although, I would argue that I've already answered it.

I hate it when people ask me where I bought something, just so they can go out and buy the exact same thing. I had a friend that did it ALL the time. In the end, if it was clothes, I'd tell here I'd got it in the US or whatever country I'd been to recently... "aww, thats a shame, I love it!" Ha ha sucker!

My point here... yes, I do have a point... is that copycats are not good. They should not be encouraged. Thus, I am taking a stand! Fran Against Copycats! FAC ... oooh not a bad acronym! *Bigsmile*

30 DBC - 29th September - Prompt:Sorry for the delay...here is part one...

Plot the perfect crime.

Part two of this will continue tomorrow...with a slight twist.




Jack looked at the sausage machine. It was time. If he wanted to live his dream - being the ultimate international criminal - he knew what needs to be done. Taking his final gulp of whisky, he swallowed his nerve.

Six months later...

Jack gazed at his collection of different prosthetic arms. His stumps had healed. While waiting for this, he had learned how to live without hands very quickly. He had enjoyed the challenge. He also spent the time planning. He had every single one of his crimes planned out. There was no stone left unturned. Nothing could go wrong. The six months had been a blessing.
The routine of shaving all his hair off, daily, had become routine. No DNA would be left at any crime scene.
His collection of disguises was truly impressive. He would never be recognised or linked to any crime via visual means.
He'd managed a spot of high level internet crime in his spare time. He had the funds to move cities at a moments notice.
But, best of all. Best of all! He had no finger prints. None! He would never be caught due to a sneaky print left somewhere he might forget to wipe. Never! He was free to steal and kill to his heart's content!

30 DBC - 26th September - Prompt:The Sunday Resonance: Review your peers. Tell us your favorite blog entry from your fellow challengers from the preceding week and, importantly, why. Share also with us which of your own blog posts you think stands out.

Once again, I'm torn with this week's blogging attempts. I'm not entirely sure the prompts have been for me. Yesterday I struggled with creative Saturday. I also really struggled with the Sound prompt - I couldn't think of anything to write. Mind you, looking back, "Invalid Entry and "Invalid Entry were kinda fun *Smirk*.
As a whole, I've really enjoyed taking part in the 30 DBC. It sounds very sad, but its given me something to do over the last month. Being stuck at home for the last 7 weeks has been a bit hard, but I think I've made the most of the time by writing as much as I can (not just 30 DBC). I hope I can keep it up when I properly start back at work. I rarely do a full 5 days at work, so I'm thinking I can spend the rest of the time writing... maybe *Wink*.

Soooo... Looking at other people's posts... lets see. I've been a bit poor at commenting - I apologise for that.

So, I'm not really supposed to share my secret just yet. But I figure a few days early on here won't do any harm. That's the beauty of WDC - you guys are part of my life but you're far enough removed that I feel I can be myself and share things I may not ordinarily share. Actually, the fact that you guys get to see ALL my writing gives you more knowledge than some of my closest friends. The other day, my best friend said "I didn't know you wrote poetry"... yup.

Anyway, big congratulations to Elle - on hiatus who guessed my secret REALLY early on and made me rethink every single one of my clues! Cheers for that *Laugh* Also, congratulations to 💙 Carly , who narrowed it down even further. When I say even further, I actually mean to the letter!! You will both be sent a Mystery MB in due course...

My top secret secret is that on 14th October 2014, I am being awarded with an Honourary Doctorate of Health Science! I'm getting this for my sporting achievements, my charity work and my work in schools.
A small part of me feels like a bit of a fraud - If I wanted to, I know I could get a real PhD, but after getting my Masters I decided to stop. But I do feel great that my efforts are being recognised!

Eight years ago, I had such poor grades that I had to blag my way into University. Now, I have two very good degrees and the people who took a chance on me, are honouring my work... it feels pretty good!

30 DBC - 26th September - Prompt: You've heard people talk about WORST PICK UP LINES. On creation Saturday, we are going to create a scene where one character delivers the worst line to another. You create the worst line and deliver it from characters you created. Have fun!


There she sat, basking in the Carabean sun, her sun-kissed skin and golden locks were positively glowing. Quietly, she read her book - making notes along the way. Gentle music whispered in her ears as she glided away in her own world.
The only this disturbing her piece was a fly that occasionally landed on her shoulder. As she swiped it away for the fifth time, she thought she heard a voice. Looking around, she spotted its owner. She gazed at the man, inviting him to repeat himself.
"If I was a fly, I'd land on you ," he said.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"If I was a fly, I'd land on you," he repeated. "Because you're the shit."

For sure, I love laughing! It makes me feel so much better if I am grumpy or sad! Mind you, Chris knows that when I am grumpy with him, the last thing I want to do, is laugh! So, he tries even harder to make me laugh! *Laugh*



For me, I love laughing. A really hard laugh can make everything so much better. Chris and I laugh everyday - mostly at each other being ridiculous.
Last night, Chris told me I was obsurd! OBsurd? *Laugh* "You have a PhD, yet you call me obsurd! That's absurd, Chris!!"

He is usually well presented - very clean and NEVER wears un-ironed clothes, which is good because he has a wardrobe full of ironed clothes. This morning he came down, ready for work and I just stared at him...

Chris - "what?"
Fran - "err are you ok?"
Chris - "yeah just tired"
Fran - "Yup I see that... are you trying to evident that fact?"
Chris - "No, why?
Fran - "Your hair is sticking up on end, and where did that shirt come from?"
Chris - "It goes with my trousers..."
Fran - "yeeeah because you have no other shirts that go with grey trousers! *Rolleyes* That's your only un-ironed shirt, isn't it?
Chris - "Yup..."
Chris - "I'm in a dishevelled mood"
Fran - "Well, you look like you've slept in your clothes... I'd change if I were you"
Chris - "Nahh, I look cool!"

*Laugh* He came home tonight and said, "I looked in the mirror earlier, this shirt is awful - why didn't you make me change"... riiiiiiiight! *Facepalm*

As you can tell, I've been looking for funny videos. When I found my final video, I literally cried with laughter. I'm really don't know why I found it funny - I do not normally laugh at animal falls etc. But, for some reason, this got me. The maximum number of times to watch this is 2.5, any more and you'll start to feel guilty for laughing - if you don't to start with. That's my disclaimer, here's the video:

30 DBC - 25th September - Prompt: I feel pretty strongly we've all heard a train whistle whoo-hoo wailing in the distance. Maybe a baby cooing in their crib or somewhere. What about the high pitch screech of a fire-truck? Sound fills a void in our writing, don't you agree. They invite the reader in to share the experience.

1.What in your opinion is the best sound of all? 2. What is the worst sound of all. 3. Finally, Share an experience about a sound that truly moved you

Well, this has definitely given me my food for thought. Now that think about it, I don't hear read it think I am a sound kind of person.If I look back in to my memory box, that is my brain, I only really get feelings and images. If I concentrate hard then I will be able to imagine the sounds attached to certain memories. However, it is not the first thing to come to mind.
For example, if I think about the starter's gun at the start of a international race. In this situation, my memory
indicates that I, without fail, always needed a wee. No matter what I had done prior to the race. It was inevitable. So, yeah, that was the feeling I had every single time. The sound of the gun, doesn't really register – even though I know exactly what it sounds like and could identify it very easily.
In this case, I am not entirely sure how to answer this prompt. Sure, certain music and the like do make me think of certain situations, as we have discovered from earlier prompts. But I do not think, for me, sounds are the be all and end all.
A sound that scares me shitless, if this sounds of another car's horn, which, upon hearing it, you realise you have made a mistake that probably could have killed you if you had have been so lucky. Luckily for me, This doesn't happen often. But you know what I'm saying - those times where you have to carry on driving but really you want to stop just so you can chill out for a few seconds.
I am very aware that I haven't actually answered this prompt. But I am also aware that different people have different ways of understanding the world. For example, University, I went to all the lectures, but when I came out of each and every one of them, I could not tell you anything that was said. All my friends were astonished when I came out with the best results of all of them because they thought I had no idea what was occurring. This was, technically, true after lectures. But I just went home and read up on the information needed, and then I knew what was going on.

So, in answer to this, I am just going to say that sounds do not do it for me. It doesn't mean I can't write about sounds, I just don't relate to them as much as I do with imagery, feelings and the written word.


In other news:

*Note1* I am writing this with DragonDictate today. I have used this before, but I did so on a laptop and unfortunately it just slowed everything down so it didn't really work properly. This time I have come upstairs to try with my desktop, which is much faster. I reckon I have done reasonably well so far but I am not sure that I am at novel writing stage with it just yet. Maybe I will be one day? It has been getting easier even as I have been writing this post.
*Note1* I ordered a WDC hoodie a few weeks ago and that arrived this morning which is very exciting because I am actually quite cold.

30 DBC - 24th September - Prompt: Sean Haldane is a nominee for the post of Professor of Poetry at Oxford University. He said, "I now think poetry has more capacity to change people than psychotherapy." What do you think about this statement?

Hmmm I initially sighed at this prompt as I thought it didn't inspire me. However, I think I'm inclined to agree.

I read this book back in about February:


Its an autobiography, in a sense, about how Rachel used poetry and words to help her through her depression. I could understand where she was coming from throughout the whole book. But I couldn't relate to her use of poetry in dark times, but wished I could. Maybe my dark times wouldn't have been so, well, dark! I have only recently discovered poetry and it's value. Now that I have, I can see where Rachel and Haldane are coming from.
I'm not sure it is something that would work for everyone, but I can see how it could help - if people were open enough to embrace it!
I definitely feel better about things if I get the chance to write things down!

Umm...that said, I'm not really sure where to go with this now. *Laugh*

30 DBC - 22nd September - Prompt: Is there a particular rule of grammar that irks you when you see it has been broken?

When I first saw this prompt this morning, I read "rule of grammar" as "type of grammar" (it was 6am and I hadn't had coffee yet). My reaction, in my head, went something like this:

Type of grammar? TYPE of grammar???? What on earth is a TYPE of grammar??? Grammar is grammar!! *Facepalm*


Then I had coffee and started getting ready, thinking this:

Shit! What if there are different types of grammar!? What if I've just made an idiot of myself in front of my own brain!?


So, while I was being driven to a meeting at a school two hours away, I googled "types of grammar". Embarrassingly, I actually googled "types of grammer" but shhhh *Facepalm*.
Turns out, I did make an idiot of myself in front of my own brain! Apparently, there are ten types of grammar. huh! Look: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 types of grammar  
All very well and good. But, I'm going to be completely honest with you guys... At this moment in time, I have absolutely no clue what anything in that article actually means. Don't get me wrong, I'm a reasonably intelligent person so could probably work it all out. It's just I have a migraine coming on and, frankly, I don't want to! *Bigsmile*

Anyway, I've just used 1600 characters answering a prompt that wasn't actually the prompt. Impressive, huh? So let me start again:

Nope, not really. Just... ALL OF THEM!

I just grammar harshly. But surprisingly not AS much on WDC - go figure - unless I'm reviewing. If I read something formal and it has a grammatical error, I find it very difficult to take it seriously. If it has several, I consider the 'return to sender option'. *Laugh*

My best friend has a new boyfriend and she has shown me some of his text messages. But only to make me want to cry! The guy used 'to', 'too' AND 'two' all in one message, and they ALL meant the wrong thing. I'm fairly lenient on grammar in texts, blogs and social media, but that just hurt my skin.
Don't get me wrong. Good education doesn't equal good grammar, and vice versa. Chris has three degrees and his grammar is awful.

On that note, I'd like the end this part of the post, with this guy...

With each brick will be a clue pointing towards what my top secret secret is! You can all have one guess each day. The first person to guess correctly will win a Mystery MB from me. I will NOT tell you if you're right or wrong until I know I am allowed to announce. If I am allowed to announce before the end of the 30DBC, the clues will become more obvious.

Hmmm its been a bit of a funny week for me, in the blogging sphere... Well, in general I guess. Having judged 30 DBC a fair few times, I just know I would have marked myself down for a few of my mistakes. But then, I am a strict judge... Which is why they only let me do a week at a time *Wink*.
I just think the lack of smoke has hindered my creative brain! Today is day 7 of giving up, but it clearly hasn't helped. OoO do you think I could convince Chris (and the tax man) that I need to smoke to keep my brain working? *Laugh* Perhaps not! *Cry*

Okay so lets get to my favourite posts this week. I've not gone with comedy value this week, as I usually do. I've gone down a more inspirational route

1. "Invalid Entry by amy-Has a great future ahead - I liked this because Amy was obviously very proud of herself, rightly so! It was just a positive read.
2. "First Lady & What Have I Been Writing Lately by 💙 Carly - I liked this because Carly wasn't very positive at the start of the post but managed to inspire herself just by writing, even though she was adamant she wouldn't *Bigsmile*

Oh!! No I've just remembered... I will add a favourite in on it's comedic value! "Invalid Entry by ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy made me chuckle. It really wasn't the prompt response I expected from her *Laugh*

My favourite entry of mine? Looking back, they all suck! *Laugh* ... If I must choose, I'll go with "Invalid Entry ... Just because *Smile*
