It is a difficult challenge. I use auto-rewards, but I seldom reward otherwise, except with thanks. Mostly, I have taken up with a smaller group within WDC (Let's Publish! is the one I chose) where the reviews are far more specific and useful (and usually not public), and where there is very little rewarding going on, except gratitude and shared purpose. To the extent that WDC is a social networking site, it is probably inevitable that a fair number of people are here for the goodies, not for the sake of excellence in writing. Why work hard on your writing if you can find an audience that oohs and aahs every time you type up a bit of stream of consciousness?
