We're a group seeking active and dedicated members who enjoy the broad scope of this type of fiction. Our goal is to unite like minded writers in the WDC community. We want to showcase contests related to speculative fiction in hopes to encourage you to write. Any member of WDC who is interested in broadening their writing into multiple genres will be able to join this group. You will have the option to browse through all the groups affiliated, you can join the groups that interest you, or simply sit back and wait for our monthly email notifications for events that peak your interest. Please understand that you're not required to join the group to use this page. What is speculative fiction? Speculative fiction is a combining of multiple genres into just one category. It is everything that is unreal, supernatural, and magical, set in the past, present or future that defies the world we know. Stories that dwell into the realm of imagination are considered speculative fiction. The three main genres are science fiction, fantasy and horror. But they also include supernatural fiction, alternate history, superhero fiction, utopian and dystopian fiction, and apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction. more info ▼ Function of Group The group will be used to link all groups on WDC that are considered speculative fiction into one centralized network. Every affiliated group will be listed on this page. Group leaders and their staff will be able to list their contests, any special items or activities, and the option to send out group notification emails to all. This is merely a courtesy, and in no way will be used to spam our members. "Simplicity is the true sign of genius." Everything associated with this group can be easily accessed by clicking the button on the bottom of this page. That button opens up 3 individual buttons, the first button lists the groups, the second contests, and the third items. Why should I join this group? Most likely you're asking yourself this question as you read this, and the answer is: you joined a writing site, you're evidently interested in at least one genre of speculative fiction or you wouldn't even be reading this, and your time is precious. Do you want to find yourself spending hours searching for groups, contests or items of similar interest, of course not. You might already be in a group, but joining a group that list other groups means you'll have an updated list of active groups to choose from . If you like writing for contest for these genres, then this group will give you a complete list of active contests to write for. 1 Monthly Newsletter The beginning of each month you will receive our monthly newsletter. This will be short letter giving our members information regarding the group, the wdc community, or any specific activities for the month. A link to the group page will always be posted on the bottom for easy access to the group links. Think of it as just a simple reminder to check out the contests starting for each new month. How to get started Simply fill out the short survey below, then within a day or so you'll be entered in the group. You'll receive an automatic email letting you know you've joined along with a welcome message and the code to post our group page. You can insert it into any of your items or reviews for easy access and advertising of our group. Please feel free to contact anyone you know within the site you think would be interested. If you're already in a group that falls into speculative fiction, and you don't see them listed in the group links then message their leader, or member of their staff. The more groups and contests participating, the more you as a member will have access to.
