The Howling

You forgot you were hungry
since all the caressing --
         yellow freedom re-envisioned
beneath the window,
ground anchored,
before clouds interfere
and the howling from within returns.

Inevitable night awakening,
renewal becomes hard, as
a portion lives longer than the other.
