I look at the title, premise, overall structure first. Then I see how it makes me feel. After that, I might comment on little errors which are easily fixed.

I tend to be constructive, though I've been known to be a bit too nice...at least, in my opinion. note that while I'll review anything requested, they can be a bit sloppy if I don't take interest.

As a reviewer of your work, I will first look for identification in what you are presenting. When a reader can truly identify with the writer, emotion sets in and the story becomes a part of the reader as well as the writer.

I give a honest review, I look for improvements maintaining a good rhythm through the narrative. I value clarity in a storyline. I notice when pacing is off balance from one point in the story then the other. I like to focus on Grammer and punctuation as well. I like to give the author a good "WOW" from my review.

Unsentimental. I focus on the kinds of craft issues that will keep a writer from being taken seriously and prevent them from fully expressing their vision. For more information, see "Writing Hurts: Review Forum

Casual. More my opinion than, say, most reviewers.

I am honest and respectful, and try to be as diplomatic as possible when I review a piece of writing. I use a template to cover most writing elements, as well as giving you my personal thoughts and feelings about it. I rate fair and equal to the review I give, but I only give a rating of 5 if the piece is perfect, in my opinion.

I'm honest but constructive. I'll explain why I give the number of stars I give and what you could do to improve that. I do fix grammar as well as look at style, emotional triggers, characters, and other things like that. I'll get back to you with a full review in a couple of days or so after the request, depending on the length of the item.

Above all things, I believe reviews should be honest. I think that one brutally honest review can do more good than 100 coddling, everything-is-perfect reviews. I will never be mean (it's unprofessional) but if you're really serious about making your work better, I'll be happy to help.

Depends. Sometimes, in depth, and sometimes, "just the feel of the item."

Honest and critical reviews offered. I look at all components of story-telling: setting, dialogue, characterization, conflict and resolution. I will not generally do a line-by-line edit, though I will point out minor errors. If a piece needs a complete rewrite for grammar and spelling I will tell you so. I do not sugar-coat. I try to be insightful and will offer honest suggestions where I think are necessary.

I tend to try and be fairly succinct, I have a deep love for verbose and interesting language, taking large preference to poetry. If you want some critique or suggestion on such, I'd be happy to help!

I am meticulous about trying to give some useful pointers as feedback, if not about writing, at least about what I felt when I read the piece. I will not do line-by-line edits but will give examples of the typos or errors, if seen at all. I prefer not to read explicit details or abusive language although I will review anything asked, personal preference disregarded. My own forte is for writing short stories, observational humour. But if I review what is outside my capacity or comfort zone, I research the norms before commenting. I do not intend to hurt or denigrate, for I respect writing too much to do so. Nor do I feel I review except as fellow word-lover and writing-student. If I forget a commitment, feel free to knock on my door to remind me!

I use a three colored ribbon system, green, blue, and red, to measure my feelings on the strength of that area of the review. The color of the ribbon to the left of the category denotes how I feel the work measured up to the catigory. A Green Ribbon *RibbonG* Means I feel the work passed and met this criteria. A Blue Ribbon *RibbonB* Means I feel this is somehow incomplete, or weak and will explain as best I can and offer any suggestions I can think of. A Red Ribbon *RibbonR* Means I think the work is missing this. A Face Palm *FacePalm* Ether standing alone or alongside a ribbon Will mean I don't know, or I'm not sure. This Style I apply to both short stories and poetry. I'm just learning so please understand I need to have limits, which are word count for short stories is 1,500 Poetry line count is no more that forty lines please. At least for now until I get better at this.

I tend to focus on the technical aspects of a piece of writing, looking at the language, flow, style and punctuation. I tend not to spend too much time on complimenting what works well.

I don't like using a template. I don't like correcting spelling. I don't like correcting grammar. I don't want to be your editor. I enjoy discussing what I have read. I am very happy to tell people what I have liked and what I have disliked. There is not a lot that I dislike.

I like to always pick out the positive points in a piece, even if overall I am not enamoured by it. I tend to point out grammatical and spelling errors. I will be honest, but not unkind *Smile*
