Honoring Our Veterans - 16 lines
A flag, once a symbol of national pride,
Now no-one bats an eye to see it abused.
"Never Forget" has gone by the wayside,
We're too busy with the mundane of day to day.

Driving by a big box store, I see someone with a sign,
"Please help" it reads, and I wonder,
Is this someone who once served and is
Now having to beg just to survive?

How our veterans are treated long after their service
Is a telling sign of our nation's priorities.
While many are fine, and are taken care of,
Too many have fallen between the cracks of bureaucracy.

Pray for our veterans, those who fought and bled,
Those who haven't seen war, but still served.
Pray there will come a time when wars will be a distant memory.
And help those that you can.
