Monkey Mind
There is a baboon
in the brain of me a bark
a bite the bounding
hop, limb to hippocampus
treed by predators
         imagined into being

there is a brass band
in the heart of me a jump
a drum the booming
jazz, ear to the aorta
chambered in fanfares
         applauded into beating

there is a seraph
in the soul of me a soft
a still the quiet
sound, spoken to the sprit
sung over primates
         shushed into a silence - for
         even monkey minds must sleep.
