Flash Fiction- Teen Hero Under Questioning
WILLOW CREEK, ARKANSAS- The town of Willow Creek is abuzz following the dramatic rescue of Mrs. Henderson's beloved poodle, Fifi, from the clutches of a raging fire. Local teen Danny Baker is being hailed as a hero, his face plastered across the front page of the Willow Creek Gazette, lauded for his bravery and quick thinking. But as the smoke clears, whispers of doubt begin to swirl, questioning if Danny's actions were as selfless as they seem.

Eyewitnesses paint a chaotic scene: Fifi, trapped on the second floor of the burning building, panicked barks echoing through the street. Firefighters struggled to reach the terrified dog; the flames seemed relentless. Suddenly, Danny Baker, known more for his skateboarding skills than his altruism, charged into the blaze, emerging moments later with the shivering Fifi tucked under his arm.

Mrs. Henderson, overcome with gratitude, showered Danny with tearful thanks and a hefty cash reward. News crews descended, eager to capture the heartwarming tale. But some onlookers voiced a nagging suspicion: Had they seen Danny lingering near the Henderson house just minutes before the fire started?

Interviews with neighbors revealed a history of minor mischief on Danny's part- a few broken windows, some questionable pranks. Had he started the fire himself, only to stage a daring rescue and reap the rewards?

Danny fervently denies accusations of arson. "I was just walking by," he insists. "When I saw Fifi in trouble, I acted on instinct."

The Willow Creek Fire Department remains tight-lipped, their investigation ongoing. For now, Danny Baker basks in the spotlight, a hometown hero. Yet, the question lingers: Did he truly save the day, or is there more to this story than meets the eye? Only time, and a thorough investigation, will tell.
